We are arriving Aug 14 and departing the 23 and tha rates are insane!!!! I've tried different codes and can't get it under $500!! Any suggestions would be awesome!!! We would like to pick up and drop off at MCO...10am on the 14th and drop off 5pm on the 23rd...any size car ~SUE

That's ten days (drop-off is so many hours beyond nine 24-hour periods that you're legitimately being charged an extra day).

Try two five-day rentals, even if it means taking time out from your trip for the renter to return to the airport. A rental car week equals five to seven 24-hour periods.

What about Priceline or Hotwire? You're locked into the rental (well, not really - but you've paid for it, no refunds) and you don't find the rental agency name until after the transaction is completed.

If you're staying onsite, do you NEED a car? The whole time?

I have found the best prices for us on Avis using AWK K199060 (from orlando/orange county visitors and convention bureau website) with the avis coupon code MUWA003 of 35.00 off a weekly rental which will be subtracted once you get to the rental counter. If you are looking at a little larger vehicles I found Dollar had a special if you use your American express card to rent. That code is AX24 and an SUV was 224.00 base rate or around 298.00 out the door. There is also two other cars available under this special but I don't know what they are as we were only looking at SUV's.
