This will be our (myself and DH) first time on the dining plan and I am really confused, :confused3 and could use some (ok a lot) of help. Here is my major problem::confused: They say you have to make your reserations 180 in advance for some restaurants (ok I get that) but the problem that I am not sure what restaurant I want to go to on any given day of my stay, because I was going to base what restaurant I want to go to based on what park has the EMH's (I wanted the restaurant to be in the park that has the EMH that way I don't have to leave the park). WDW won't post there Feb. operation hours until next month. I am afraid if I wait a month the restaurants I want to go to will already be booked. :sad2: What should I do? Should I just book the reservations or should I wait a month to see the operation hours will be? (Our trip is planned for the first week of Feb)

In a nutshell...YES.

Mostly for the restaurants you can't do without.

You will be able to call back later and change some if necessary.

Otherwise, just be willing to be flexible with locations and times.

EMH should be pretty similar (things CAN change!), as they tend to stick with the same days.

But if there is somewhere you want to go, definately take a guess and make the ressies.

Don't stress...vacation is supposed to be fun! :wizard:
Happy planning!

Once your park schedule is out choose your park plan ie. what parks on what days. Then decide which restaurant ADRs you'd like to get on which days. Simply by reading DIS you may have already decided on a few places you'd really like to try so fit those into your schedule. At your 180 day mark call and make ADRs, at least for those you reall want. You can always change things around as needed.

The whole DP and ADR process can be fun, don't let it stress you out!

By the way I'm up in the Cleveland area neighbor.

The other thing I usually do is have a definite day for each park where we eat in that park but for other days where I want to be flexible I make a resort ADR like Chef Mickey's or 1900 Park Fare. That gives us a nice balance of planned out days and more flexible days.

With the change that is taking place in the ADR system, I don't believe you will be able to make your ADRs until three months in advance. Hopefully someone else can explain the change and how it will be working over the next year or so.
