OK, I think DH is really tired of me whining about my half I did yesterday. He has offered to take off work and drive up to Nashville to do the Country Music Half and pace it with me. I'm very upset with myself and don't feel like I ran as well as I could have. I know I had some obstacles, but it is killing me that I ran better on my training long runs.

How would I go about running two halfs this close together? We will be in WDW for seven nights next week, too so that puts another whole spin on it. The Country Music Half is on Saturday, April 26th.

Any opinions? Should I just suck it up and forget about it or try again? I guess I could count this past half as a training run, uh?

I'm still contemplating having surgery in June and if I do, that will knock me out for some time. We're signed up for the Donald in January, but we're not planning on trying to beat a certain time - I'll be too interested getting pics with characters! :lmao:

Any thoughts or advice?
(BTW, my left leg feels better today. Still walking around a little wacky, but I don't think it is serious. Hopefully, I can run a short run later this week???)

Shan, you have got it baaaaaad!!! :dance3:

If you feel good today, the day after your first ever half, you're in great shape for the CM on the 26th!! Anne

Shan - I think you are crazy to be kicking yourself. You did awesome, especially coming off being sick. I really think you shoudl concentrate on recovering. However, if you MUST try again, here's what I am doing between my half this coming weekend adn Minnie (which I am using the half marathon traning plan for, sort of)

I will race this weekend adn count it as my 10-miler, then, do 30 or 40 min on monday, 60 min on Thursday, if my body is ok. I'll do 5 miles fo rmy LR.

Then, it will go 50/40 durign teh week adn 8 mi for LR.
40/40 and 5 miles fro my LR
30/30 and race.

Now, I am going to see how my body feels next week (this week for you) and play it by ear. If it's two 30 min runs during the week, so be it.

That's my plan, but I came right from full marathon into running no less than 5 miles every Saturday since (except when I was sick). My body *may* be more used to using longer runs fro training, but maybe I'm dreaming. WIth your hurting leg and being sick, I worry. I *think* the plan I'm using is do-able for you, if you MUST try again. I really think you should be thrilled with how you did, though.

Shan, I don't think that the 1/2's are that close together......I ran two, only two weeks apart and PR'ed the second one. But I do think that you need to give yourself a break. You did really well......why beat yourself up?:confused3 :confused3 There are plenty more races in your future, and think of it this way.......it will be easier for you to PR the next one when you are feeling better!:cool1: :cool1: You have nothing to proove.......

You did great!!!!

Beth

They changed my chip time back to 2:29:58! :woohoo:

Now DH asks me if I still want to go run the Country Music Half... :rotfl2:

Shan, good news about the corrected time. I think you could do it. I'm with everyone else on it. You don't need to prove anything. You did great!

That said, you DO have the bug bad doncha! Go for it if you want. Your enjoying the WDW is a great idea.

The Country Music Half is a VERY well run event and was a blast last year when we did it!! If you'd like more info, just let me know and I'd be happy to share.

The music scene/nightlife downtown is awesome! You don't have to like country music to enjoy it :) Well worth the short drive IMO.

Negative. It has a couple of smaller rolling hills....and right at the end you go up for a bit, but then go down this HUGE MASSIVE downhill bridge to the finish which is just outside of the Predators stadium :goodvibes: Easily the best finish I've seen on a course yet!!

HUGE MASSIVE downhill sounds good to me! :thumbsup2

I agree with everyone that you have nothing to prove, now that I got that out of the way. Here is what I did.
I did the WDW Half this year in Jan and I did better than I did the year before. Then when I got home I decided to to the Miami ING Half Marathon 2 weeks LATER!!! I Did a Personal Best ever at that one. Then I was having so much fun with all that, I then did the Ft. Lauderdale A1A Half Marathon 3 weeks after the Miami ING. SO..... all in all I did 3 Half Marathons in a span of about 7 weeks.
I am probably not a good one to ask, but I think it can be done, as long as you are feeling ok and not too sore or worn out. At the A1A Half I did my worst time THIS year but better than my first ever Half, but I was sick the week before. My massage therapist told me I was crazy!!
I guess I got BLING happy, but I am glad I did it because I figure who knows when I'll be able to do it again??

If it feels good and you want to do it..., then go for it!!:woohoo:

I did the CMM 1/2 last year and will be doing it again this year. You will have a blast!!!! Go for it!!!!!!
