Please help with transfer clarification

We are considering transfering in some points for travel October 2011 and sometime next year (October or November 2012). If somebody could help me understand the rules I would greatly appreciate it.

I have read that you can only transfer or receive a point transfer once per use year. Can we do 2 separate transfers (one covering travel Oct 2011 and one for Oct/Nov 2012) as long as the points are different use years? Or does it have to do with when I’m transferring in the points (only 1 per calendar year)??
I’m trying to make sense of this, is this correct?

- Oct 2011 travel: need points from Oct/Dec 2010 or any 2011 use year
- Oct/Nov 2012 travel: need points from any 2011 or 2012
- If we could get 1 transfer to cover both, what use year would I be looking for??

Yes, you can do two separate transfers as they as they are separate UYs. I believe you can only transfer points from the next UY if the person you are transferring from is in the current UY. So for example, if you are trying to transfer someone's August 2012 points, you would have to wait until August 2011 to do it.

So for your October 2011 travel, you would need points that are good through that time. You'd want a November 2010 UY or later, since October UY points are good through the end of September. You can also bank transferred points, so that would help out if you find a different UY month.

If you found a November 2010 transfer, you could bank them and they would be good until the end of October 2012.

If you want to do one transfer for both trips, then find something from December 2010 UY or later, since you could use some of those points for your first trip and some for your second trip, if you banked some of them.

Use Years are February March April June August Sept Oct and December.
( no January May July or November Use Years ) so you may want to
know this to better synchronize (for lack of a better word ) your UY and the member's UY that will transfer the points to you and the dates you will need these points to be valid for.
