When we went to Disney in October I signed up for the rapid rewards and booked our flights for 5 people. When I linked the confirmation to get points for the flight they gave me points for my ticket only. From my understanding my husband would have to have a separate account to get his points, is that correct? We can't have a family rapid rewards account. What about the kids tickets? We pay just as much for their seats as ours is there no way to list kids under a parents rewards account? I'm so confused and my points will be gone if I don't link them soon.

Yeah, it is a pain (I don't know a way around setting up separate airline frequent flier accounts for each child and parent).

For both JetBlue and Southwest I have my airline FF account, then each child has his own, each using an 'alias' email address that my email provider lets me create (I'm sure all the large email companies do this - gmail, yahoo, etc.). DS has his own. So, the kids and my Southwest emails all come to my inbox, but they each have their own frequent flier numbers.

Ok thanks. It just seems so crazy that they don't account for that. I know they don't want to lump them all together so that it takes a lot longer for us to earn enough points for free flights but you would think they would let you set up mini accounts within the head of household's account so that everything would stay together and organized. There could be one family account with x number of points available to person 1, x number of points available to person 2. I guess I'll have to create an alias email for my six year old.....crazy. Thanks again.

I know for US Airways I just used my e-mail for all my kids accounts so the monthly updates all come to me. They all have separate account numbers, but I got the updates until they grew up and moved on.

its annoying but EACH PERSON including each child and each adult needs their own RR account.

Wait until you actually book a flight using points. You will have separate confirmations for each person. If you don't purchase early bird check in, it is "fun" to check in at the 24 hour mark with different confirmation numbers!

We are a family of four with four different rapid rewards numbers. When we are ready to buy tickets using our rewards do I have to buy one ticket and then log out and log in as the next person to purchase their ticket and so on?

Are you paying cash for the tickets, or redeeming rewards? You can book everyone in a single reservation if you want to pay all at once (either with cash or one rewards account) and then just type in each person's Rapid Rewards number when you type in their name. But if you want to redeem each person's rewards for a ticket, they each have to book individually.

Hope it's okay to jump in as I'm asking about the same topic! Okay, hopefully this won't be too annoying and confusing, lol, but I'm confused. So, hopefully someone can help me figure this out! Okay, so I will be booking a trip on SW and paying with a CC, for myself and DD24. Now, I've always booked with points, since I started with SW when I got my SW Visa card. And, will it matter if I book the way to Orlando together, and then the way home together, or should I book the way there and back all together. And, if paying with a CC, I will get points for the flight. So will I get credit on my RR acct for all the points earned or only for my ticket down and my ticket back? I like to have all the points we need to book in my acct since I'm the one who pays so far. Will I lose the points earned from the sale of her tickets that I'm paying for? Is there any way to avoid that if that's the case, or do I have it wrong? I want the points I get from paying cash to combine with the points I get on my SW Visa for using the card. I guess what seems very inconvenient with this is that if I have to put points on a RR acct for her, then they may get wasted if she doesn't end up with enough points to make an actual booking of a flight! I just had a thought, if I have to put her earned pts from a flight I buy her, into a RR point with her name on it, can she gift them back to me, so I actually get them back?

I will also be booking a trip in May when new dates open that I plan to do with points. This trip I will use my points for our way down, and then use her Bf's account to book our trip home using his points. This way we can split things up and I don't have to use all my points for us. I guess this won't matter since we don't get points for booking using points, lol.
But, what if I book a trip using cash, then change something and have a credit. Is there anyway tobook using a credit on the same flight as points? I'm thinking that's unlikely but asking. If I have credit, can I use it towards booking EBCI for the flight booked with points? TIA!!

Hi...I'll answers based on my experience with SW over the years

you and your daughter need individual rr accounts...flights booked in your name linked to your rr account get the earned points in your account and your daughter gets the earned points in her rr account

if you pay with your SW cc for both tickets the points earned go to your linked rr account

I always buy my flights as one way...not sure if it makes a difference or not....I just find it easier

You can't use a credit to buy EBCI for any flights

The points your daughter earns can be transferred to your account...there is a fee based on the number of points being transferred and there is a minimum number of points that can be transfered..I think 2,000

Thanks for the info. Yes I want to redeem each of our rewards. We each have enough for one ticket. I figured I would have to do it as four seperate transactions, but I was hoping not.

Thank you for this info! Yeah, I always book our way there in one transaction, and the way back home in another transaction. I did just set up a RR acct for DD24 tonight when I had to buy our flights. I did also look at transferring or gifting points. You were right, it is 2000 points minimum. To transfer those costs $20, to gift those same 2000 points costs $55. Why would someone gift those points for $55 when you can transfer them for $20? :confused3 Thanks again!
