I have a friend who purchases beautiful dated Lladro ornaments for my girls every Christmas. Now that she has a daughter I am looking to start some type of collection for her. The only problem is that she plans to raise her daughter Jewish so the gift cannot be related to Christmas. Any ideas for a personal collection that I could add to every year. I am really at a loss. Someone has already started the pearl chain for her, so that idea is out.
Please help, I am desperate!!!!

what about dolls? There are many nice collectable dolls like Madam Alexander?

stamps or coins maybe?

A charm bracelet with a new charm every year?

a nice Disney collectable.....

My mother in law got my daughter a cherished teddy collectible when she was born and then the birthday one for her first birthday. So far she's only celebrated one birthday so her collection consists only of those two pieces but they are really cute.

Also, Precious Moments make nice collectibles.

How about a savings bond each year? You can get them in many denominations.

My mom buys my neice Waterford goblets, one for each birthday. The only thing about angels is that I think of that as a Christian thing. Maybe you could buy something Jewish but I don't know what you could buy and have a collection. Maybe a seder dish or menorah's? Maybe different dreidel's?

There is also the Birthday Girls that you can get at Hallmark. They go from birth through age 18. They also have one for graduation and marriage. You can get them with blonde or brunette hair. I got them for my neice each year. I waiting for her to get married now to finish it up. There even might be one for new mom but I'm not sure.

The Cherished Teddies are a good idea too. I gave a 25th wedding anniversary one to my cousin last year and have one put back for my brother-in-law and his wife for next year.

Hallmark ornaments are a good idea and not as expensive.

What about Precious Moments figurines? There's one for just about any occasion! :p

I like the Waterord goblet idea. When she's older, she'll have a lovely set for entertainig. You can do watewr goblets, then move on to white wine glasses, red wine glasses, champagne glasses. The possibilities are endless.

The charm bracelet idea is also nice.

I'm not a fan of knick knacks so take this with that in mind.

You could do an "add a pearl" necklace. You would give the child a pearl for every special occassion to add to her necklace.

You just never know if someone is going to want or be able to display a bunch of different figurines. It's just not everyone's style.
