We'll be flying to Disney in January. I have not flown for years and don't know the tricks, tips, and trades to buying tickets.

When is typically the cheapest to get tickets? 180 days out, 90 days, 60 days?

Do the prices typically go down the closer you get to your travel dates?

If you buy directly from the carrier and their price goes down after the purchase do they refund the difference?

Thanks in advance for any advice given!!!!!

The only airline that I am aware of that refunds money if the fare goes down is Southwest. Your refund will be issued in the form of a credit toward a future flight.

As you get closer the prices get hire.

As for when a good time to buy is a mystery. You could see a fare at 8:00 p.m. for $200 and at 9:00 p.m. for $100. There really is no way to predict when the right time to buy is. I would suggest watching the fare by checking the price periodically and when you feel the price is withing the range you are willing to pay then I would buy.

You can get a credit if you rebook a lower fare on many airlines. The problem is that you also have to pay a change fee, usually around $100.00. SWA does not charge this fee.
