Back in the late 80's, we went to a character dinner at the Contemporary. It was a buffet and had Disney Characters. I remember we could watch the monorail going over from where we sat. A few years later we went back, but it was gone. I've always wondered-wasn't that Chef Mickey's? I think I read somewhere that although the dinner came to the Contemporary from DTD a few years ago, it had been originally held at the Contemporary and moved over to DTD after 1989 (when we ate there). Or was this a different character meal?

Sounds like the Terrace Cafe. In the '80s it was a character buffet in the morning and an Italian buffet at night. We tried the breakfast buffet once but liked Papeete Bay Verandah and Top of the World better. We never had dinner there but a family we know loved it and thought it a great bargain.

It was in the same spot that now hold Chef Mickey's. I don't think it ever stopped being a character buffet for breakfast but could be wrong. It just assumed the name Chef Mickey's when the Disney Village spot closed I think. That restaurant was the Village Restaurant before it became the first Chef Mickey's.
