I am new here but I have been lurking for a few months. I just love all the wonderful ideas that everyone has. I was hopping that yall would be able to help me. I am getting married on Dec 1 2008 at the WP and the reception is at the GF. DF and I do not want anything cookie cutter we want a "out of the box" wedding. Our theme is Disney moves we want each table to be a different movie i.e. The Lion King, The little Mermaid, Snow White, Fantasia, and Mickey and Minnie (sweetheart table). There are going to be a few more but don't know what one yet. I am stumped. :confused3 I don't know what I want but I do know we do not want much floral. If yall could help us come up with ideas that would be wonderful. Thank you in advance. :flower3:

If you look for sunsh1ne's trip report, I believe she had candy centerpieces, which sounds really fun! And figmentfan had snowglobes. Another idea is bowls of fruit or edible fruit centerpieces, or piling up favors in the middle of the table.

If ya wanna be really out-of-the-box, skip centerpieces all together! That's what we did... :thumbsup2

You skipped centerpieces? That sounds like a money saver... what did you do instead?

hello
as lurkyloo said i d id have cansy ceterpieces and they were great. but there are many many ideas

i think it would be cool to theme each table after the name of it. i would do it in a subltle way such as for lion king maybe red, yellow and orange vases with water and greenery to show the colors of the sun and the green for the tree and all.

for snowwhite maybe cylanders with water and apples floating with rose petals scattered on the table.

for fantasia-(this is my favorite to think about it has alot of possiblities) you caoul have a wood water bucket with blue flowers of sparkly things coming out of it like water.

ow ow this is so fun . one more and i promise i will stop

for litlle mermaid you youls do bowls with sand a shells scatterd

and each tables chairs and tablecloths could complement the colors

-- ok i am done hehe
seriously i am sure theat there are other options without floral that use here and dinsey can help you with and to stay within your budget

i love to help so ask away

:)

Nothing! I've been to a bazillion weddings, and I don't remember what a single centerpiece looked like, so I figured our guests wouldn't even notice. Plus, we were at the Attic, which already has a lot going on in the decor department.

We ended up with only one picture from the whole reception that would even have shown the centerpieces, and I think I'm going to just Photoshop some in :rotfl:

i am so sorry if i am a bug but
i just thought ot would be cool if the people favor or escort card went with
the theme of the table such as
rose-beauty and the beast
snow white- candy apple
little mermaid- a starfish or sandollar
fantasia- glow stick or music note (like a metal or wood one)
etc...
just a thought

you could eve go as far as picking foor that coudl relate to each movie and if you have menues printed you caoul have them write for exaple

for let's say soup- lunieres (b and b) cream of potato soup

Yeah, you know you are so right. I cant remember one either!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We are having ours at the yacht club and the whole theme is beach.. so even if I threw some star fish on the tables... it would save me well over 4 grand!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I believe it was figment (on these boards) that used Disney Snowglobes as centerpieces. Not sure they are on sale at the moment, but we were considering these also (and for a while they were 50% off at the Disney Store). We were looking at getting snowglobes from different Disney movies with couples. They really have some great ones - I believe she might have added some candles and petals to the snowglobes but this would really give the movie theme to each table.

I LOVE :lovestruc all the ideas I especially like the snow white one. I know that yall could help us As for the food we all ready have the menu. My DF is a chef and I am a pastry chef so food very important to us. We are doing food from all the states that we have lived in i.e. I am from Texas he is from Mass we meet in Miami and now we live in maryland. So we want Mole short ribs for texas lobster salad for mass jerk pork for miami and crabcake for maryland.

Could you make something thematic of the movie? Like an ocean theme for the Little Mermaid table with sand in hurricane bowl with seashells and stuff? Or are you looking for a solid theme?

i am glad you like the ideas (snowwhite was my fav also) i love your menu idea. i like things that are diffrent and personable. i cant wait to see what decisions you decidon!!

Perfectangel, welcome to the Dis!

I just posted photos of the various centerpieces that were used at my event in another thread: click here. My event was held inside Disney's Hollywood Studios Theme Park so it doesn't pertain directly to your event at the Grand Floridian. However, the more photos you can look at of what other folks have done for their events, the better chance you have of figuring out exactly what is right for your own event.

If I were you, I would ask your Disney Floral Event Manager for a few suggestions. He/She should be able to easily give you a couple of ideas since your theme appears to be right up Disney's alley -- movies. When it came time for me to decide what to use for my event, my Floral Event Manager was filled with all sorts of wonderful suggestions. And she didn't steer me wrong, nor did my budget get out of control. It really was a pleasure working with her. I hope you find the same thing when it comes time to planning the nitty-gritty details of your own event.

Have fun planning!

I always thought a cool idea for centerpieces would be something that would actually get used, flowers don't have much use after you put them on the table after all.

Ever heard of Edible Arrangements? It's a fun twist on flowers. And they evey make ones with Mickey heads in them.

http://www.ediblearrangements.com

Also, what about Cookies by Design? I don't know how many guests are sitting at each table but you could make sure each table arrangement had a cookie for each person. Kill two birds with one stone, A centerpiece AND a favor. :D

www.cookiesbydesign.com

Both places take custom orders, so I'm sure they could work with your theme!

Disney doesn't let you do the edible flowers--something about food sanitation. However, we're having edible centerpieces designed by Disney, and they are much cheaper than floral ones. Our florist, Laura, is filling multi-colored terra cotta pots with mixed bright colored mylar and lollipops (Mickey swirlpops, unicorn pops, Mickey pops and assorted other candy pops) for $65 each. HTH!

I LOVE sunsh1ne ideas!!!! :lovestruc :lovestruc :lovestruc so subtle but with a theme. I love themes. Didn't you have vases with candies in them at your reception? That was an awesome idea

Sorry to go off topic but Janet2K did you have dorothy's red slippers as favors?

I just wanted to thank everyone for the help I think that I have some idea of what I want. I guess I have to wait until I get a planner and am able to talk to disney floral. I hate all the waiting that they make you do.:rolleyes1 I just want to plan my wedding all ready.

I re-used my BM bouquets as centerpieces. Much like lurkyloo, I thought they were a little wasteful. But they can really add to the ambiance, as well. I was just cheap! :lmao:

Pink_tink8i8, I don't always check the threads after I've posted in them so I'm glad I did so this afternoon. Yes, we had white chocolate slippers that were purposefully dyed red in honor of the venue -- the Land of Oz. This was handled by the third-party vendor who Disney had recommended to me -- Shelly from Impressions. She took care of all the little touches for my event, one of which was the edible Ruby Slippers.

Here are a few photos:

They were definitely a very fun & festive touch. I think that was the first time that she had ever created "Ruby Slippers." They turned out beautifully, including the sparkly bow that tied the cellophane bag.

I hate all the waiting that they make you do. I just want to plan my wedding all ready.

Perfectangel, the time will pass quickly. I had my 20th FTW vow renewal 3 & 1/2 years ago and am now considering planning another vow renewal for my upcoming 25th anniversary. Not only did my 20th fly by, but I can't believe that my 24th will be here at the end of this year. YIKES! Time passes much too quickly. ;)
