Please help with American Girl dolls

If you've never been to the AG hair salon...I wanted to share a hair care tip. They wet the hair (slightly) and brush it with their own brush and then brush it again with a golf ball brush!!! The golf ball brush works way better than their brush and make the hair shiny again.

At 8, I wouldn't worry too much about hair care...my 5 year old is able to care for the hair on hers just fine. I definately would suggest letting her get whatever doll she wants.

Kristine-what is a golf ball brush?:confused3

My DD5 got a Just Like Me Doll for Christmas and her dog Coconut. What a huge hit. She also has Josefina (a hand-me -down from a friend) and loves both. I would show her a catalogue and let her pick. The new 2009 doll looks cute too (Chryssa).

My daughter is turning 9 and just had her 9th birthday at American Girl in Dallas. She started w/ Felicity on her 8th Birthday. I also let her look through the catalog and choose, although now she has 5 dolls (got 3 between Christmas and her Birthday) and I love Kit; her hair can be brushed as much as you want and it doesn'tget bushy or tangle; plus her movie is wonderful and current. Don't forget the website americangirl.com which not only has the product info, but also games and other activities for the girls online. It's one of DD's favorite websites. I love the dolls; they're well made, and they have really spurred DD's interest in American History. Oh, the other doll that has great hair is the just like you doll with the layered hair; it is another awesome choice if you want longer hair without tangles.

I let my daughter pick. She got a just like you doll. She loves it!:goodvibes Good Luck!!

Julie's hair is a pain. DD just got her for Christmas. She want the new doll Chrissa. I love her story!:lovestruc

I have two girls who have several dolls between. They greatly prefer the historic dolls because they've read the books. The love to brush the dolls' hair. I agree about getting the catalog and letting your daughter choose which doll she likes. They are expensive and you don't want to disappoint her with a doll that is less interesting to her.

I'm thinking of buying my first AG, Chrissa. Is the AG website the only place I can get her? Also, do you have to get the book as well or can you just get the doll?
