Please help with airline questions

I am sure these have been asked before,but we havent flown in 11 years and I want to know what to expect at the airport since my kids are already freaking out somewhat I dont want to add to the stress.Will I be able to put my sons laptop in a carryon and if i do,will i have to get it out at the airport??? Can I have an older the shoulder type tote as a purse and my carryon??? And if I keep my cameras and my ipod in my bag,when do I take them out at airport?? Sorry for so many questions,but I really have no idea what to expect.

You wil be fine. The Laptop will have to come out of the backpack and put in a basket. As for the tote and the carryon you will be fine also. I do not think you have to take the camera and the I-pod out for security. My wife has never taken out our camera. You will have to take off your shoes and belts and any coats that you are wearing. We fly with 3 kids under 10 and have never had a problem.
