Right now we are booked for April 29 to May 5, 2006. After I booked, I remembered that I will be more than likely going to a brand new Cardiovascular ICU at our hospital that has a tenative start day of June 1, 2006. So today I thought to ask my director if vacation at that time would be an issue (we are driving from WI, so I would actually be off April 27 to May 7th. She said that the opening date for the new unit is now tenatively 4/1/06, and she asked if we could move up the dates. Now the more that I look at things, I really do not think that we could move up the dates, Jan to middle of March not really possible due to driving from WI, spring break for DS (K) March 20-24, but not sure if DH would get that week of vacation--works in paper mill and picks vacation by seniority, and not interested in April due to late Easter.

So I am planning on going back to my director and tell her that moving up is not possible, but would move back by one or two weeks. That would mean going from May 6 to May 12, being off work from May 4 to May 15, or May 13 to May 19, being off May 11 to May 22.

What week would be best? We were there April 30 to May 4th this year.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

We went from May 15-21 last year, and I thought it was a great time. The parks weren't over crowded at all.
I work in the health field also (PACU-RN) so I know how managers, supervisors etc. would like you to change your schedules according to their needs. I say this...........if your trip is scheduled and you're happy with your dates etc.-keep it, and don't go through the hassle of changing everything. I know you're 8 months out, but you've already made plans and you mentioned your other family members job seniority etc. Since May is the "beginning" of vacation season it shouldn't be any problem with people available to work.
If I sound like I'm down on my job or the healthcare field, I'm really not. I just think that sometimes we need to think of ourselves too. We need to get away at times, and sometimes are better than others.
Anyway, I wish you a wonderful time at Disney! :earsboy:
