I have the feb 5 2005 eastern booked but, I have been getting worried about the weather and am wondering if i should switch to the april 30 sailing instead. The feb sailing is during our 10 year anniversary but, I would hate to pay all this money for a cruise ( we also have to shell out about $900 to fly from west coast) and have it ruined by weather. Please help! What would you do. I got a sph for the feb sailing and also booked the april sailing today because i was fortunate enough to find sph 5020 available on that sailing also. I have payed deposit for feb but, am holding april for now also. I have 6 more days to decide what to do. Oh btw, it is $200 more to sail in April which really isn't that much money. I'm just wondering what you all think. Please shed some of your expert advice on this for me. Thank You!:D

If I were you I'd stay with my original Feb. booking...but this is just my opinion, you are the only one who can decide on this. But, you can have good weather or bad weather in February or April too. April could bring lots of rain showers. You just never know. We always cruise in January and have had great weather most of the time. Our first 7-night Magic cruise was very, very warm. Our Carnival cruise was quite warm as well, and most of our second Magic cruise was warm too. Weather did prevent us from going to Castaway Cay that trip, but that was the only drawback. The weather was great the rest of the time. Shorts and t-shirts most of the time, and lots of sunning time in swim suits by the pool. I'm hoping for great weather again for our upcoming Wonder cruise on the 18th, but it's the "luck of the draw", you just never know. Good luck in your decision.

Oh, I didn't think of may rain. We went this last may (May 31-june 7) and had a little rain when we got to CC. It was warm rain though. Oh well, I don't know what to do. I'll see what my husband says.

Here's my opinion.... stay with the Feb 2005 sailing!

Here's why- that's the cruise I'm booked on! (as well as atleast one other DISer already!!)

And get this-we're also celebrating our anniversary (14yrs) during this cruise too!

Fate I tell ya... LOL

Let us know if you stay on Feb 5th- or PM me or something. We can help each other get through the many days (uh, months/year LOL) away till our cruise! hahaha

We also tried to decide between Feb or April (both times the kids are out of school on break) and decided on Feb because the cost was less, it was a couple months less to wait (LOL), and our anniversary. Hey, maybe you could use that extra $200 you'd be saving (plus a little to equal $299) for the romance at sea pkg? I think we're going to. :)

From what I have read Feb weather isn't bad- just might be a little cool especially in the water at the beaches. *fingers crossed*

Thanks for your replys. Cool water is the thing i'm worried about though. Snorkling is about our favorite thing to do on the cruise and I would hate to pay all that money to go (just $900 for airfare) and not be able to snorkle......or be uncomfortable doing it. Uggh..... Im still not sure what to do. I talked to my husband last night and he said to go with the april 30 booking I have and scratch the feb. Oh well we'll see, I still have 5 days to decide before I have to cancel my april sph. Thanks again.... and any further replys are greatly appreciated.

Aw well... should you decide to stay with the Feb booking- let me know! :)
I'm not really concerned about the water temp- even though we do plan on snorkeling also. And we're from Texas! We were even cold our one day at Typhoon Lagoon (mid 70's to low 80's) but we adjust well to cool/cold water- we just were freezing when we got OUT of the water. LOL (we're used to water parks here that have COLD water to combat the summer heat here, as opposed to pools/etc. that are heated) We figure we can handle it the time or two that we're snorkeling.... now if the pools on the ship are too cold because of weather- THAT'S when we'll be bummed. LOL

We have done 4 cruises in Jan or Feb. 3 had wonderful weather, one got too cool to be comfortable swimming at Castaway. Bottom line, you can't guarantee weather. There's a lot to do on the ship, but I agree that it was a bummer to miss snorkeling.

That said, you can get bad weather at any time of the year. In the winter, you can get a cold snap. In the spring, it can rain and be windy. In the summer, it can be so hot that you can't even touch the railing on the verandah and you are uncomfortable being out of AC for even a few minutes. In the fall, you have hurricane season.

Even with all the possibilities, you generally have a great cruise no matter what the season. You might not be doing exactly what you'd planned (we visited several unscheduled ports during hurricane season), but you still have fun. If you want to cruise in Feb., DO IT. The chances are strongly in your favor that you'll have 80s during the day and have a wonderful time.
