We are having a discussion at work and cannot agree on the answer. Is the chocolate used in Hershey's Milk Chocolate bar the same chocolate used in Hershey's Kisses? Both just the regular. :confused3

My palate tells me that the Hershey's Milk Chocolate Kisses are the same formulation as the Hershey's Milk Chocolate Bars. Also, the nutritional information on the Hershey's website appears to be the same for both products. If you're settling a bet, you could call Hershey's at 1-800-468-1714. :goodvibes

To me, the kisses taste creamier than the bar.

I'm pretty sure they are the same chocolate. Call Hershey and ask if you want proof, though.

Thanks. Whoever's wrong has to buy lunch. My guess is they're the same.

I don't know if riding the Chocolate World ride at Hershey over a dozen times qualifies me to answer, but. . . I think they're the same.

They are probably the same, BUT, I think the bar has a different hardener or maybe some kind of wax on the outside that the kisses don't have so the bars feel smoother.

:confused3 Both yummy but I would love to know the truth...

That is definately a question that would come up at work a couple days after Halloween :rotfl:

They taste the same to me but I'm reaching into my far distant past to find the answer, lol. I've not eaten any chocolate in weeks. I think this post is making my resolve to stay away from it until the holidays weaken. Saturday my dd's bf Matt handed me 1/2 hershey's bar to hold for him (he made a couple s'mores with the other half) and I shoved it in my pocket. I found it yesterday when I put that jacket back on and I had to immediately throw it in the trash because if I hadn't I knew I was going to eat it!

I think the answer is "different", but a quick look at the ingredients list on both packages would provide the proof. I don't think they taste different, but I think the different manufacturing processes for each would require different formulations. The bars are poured into molds and allowed to harden, the kisses are pumped onto a flat surface and hold their own shape without the aid of a mold.

It also appears to me that the bar chocolate has a more uniform appearance when you look at a section of the bar you've broken in two, and the kisses have a somewhat "grainy" appearance to the chocolate.
