We are staying at poly from March 4-6 and had requested Samoa, just found out that it will be getting refurbed then :(
Important to us is balcony, close to monorail and close to pool....what should I change my request to? should I even request a specific longhouse?? Have been considering Toleaku or Fiji??

please help! This took a lot of convincing to get dh to stay onsite as he likes his room to spread out so we usually stay offsite! I want this to be amazing!!

Thanks in advance!

You can request either but you realize that your request may not be granted? If I were you, I would not request a specific longhouse.

I would request Tokelau or Raratonga. From Figi you have to walk around the marina area, and we found Raratonga to be closer to everything than Figi (especially the walk to TTC). While the room request is just a request and not guaranteed, we have always gotten our request when we just requested one longhouse.:)

I have found it's always best to make your requests in order of importance. So in your case, I would request balcony and close to pool.

Are you familiar with Tikiman's site? There is a TON of info re all the long houses plus a great map that shows the entire Poly complex from an aerial view. One thing to remember is it's not as spread out as you may think. And besides the monorail in the main building, don't forget the TTC is also next to Poly, so a building kind of in the middle of TTC and the main building is also not a bad place to be.

I wouldn't request a specific longhouse. I would list your three requests (balcony, close to monorail, close to pool) in order of importance. Or, if you decide which longhouse you would like, I would still put in the request for a balcony in addition to the longhouse.

We stayed third floor, Fiji, marina side, a few years ago and LOVED it! It was close to the pool, close to the monorail and we ended up with a view of space mountain!

We loved Tokelau- had room 1925 with a patio!!

This building was a 3 min walk to the GCH and a 45 second walk to the quiet pool. Loved the location.
My son adored the patio!!

we are only doing magic kingdom so I think we will only be using the monorail and not the ttc right?

If you happen to be in a longhouse that is closer to TTC than the resort monorail, you can always grab the ferry or monorail from there. There is also the smaller resort ferry close to he volcano pool.

I agree with not requesting a specific longhouse and including your preferences instead. Depending on where you are used to staying, I think you will find that no rooms are really that far from a pool or the monorail, as in maybe a five minute walk. We love the poly - hope you enjoy!

Don't stress about it, it's about a 5-7 minute walk from one end of the resort to the other, so you are not really far from anything. You should note that you'd like a balcony if that's most important. Remember, the CM's actually have very limited space to enter requests, so you can't rattle of a list of items and expect to have them all down. :goodvibes

I agree with both posts :thumbsup2.

I also wanted to add that although requests are just requests and are not guaranteed, when we stayed at the Poly, I requested Samoa, first floor, facing volcano pool (in that order). When we checked in, the first 2 requests were met with the 3rd being met if we wanted to move the next morning. We stayed put as we didn't check in until around 1:30 a.m. and wanted to get settled (plus the quiet pool view was pretty), but I thought it was great that the CM was willing to do that for us to make sure we got our requests :goodvibes. If you see your requests haven't been met, you can always ask if another room will be available later if you're willing to wait.

Tahiti is a good choice. That was our first WDW stay (but they called it Moorea back then).

Thanks everyone. When I booked I requested balcony, close to monorail and Samoa. So am thinking of changing to this

-balcony, close to monorail, close to pool and Toleaku

does that sound good??

Do I need to still request playpen?

We stayed in Tokelau ~ we were on the first floor (patio) on the corner ~ we could see the beach; it was a beautiful view. Tokelau is right by the quiet pool; extremely close to the beach ~ steps away, and a very short walk to the Volcano pool, GCH, and TTC.

We were assigned Tokelau and loved the location. If I were you I'd just ask for a balcony and let the tiki gods decide the rest. pixiedust:
