Hi,
I'm at work right now and talking with a co-worker who has also been on a cruise (also DCL). She is saying it is MANDATORY to tip at the end of the cruise. I say it is not. OF COURSE I WILL BE TIPPING everyone (and probably more than the norm) but she is saying that if you dont leave anything in the envelope you will automatically be charged the minimum tipping on your card.
Please settle this!!

Tipping is not mandatory. It's not even automatic (as it is on some cruise lines). A family that does not tip will not be arrested.

Tipping is, of course, expected. There are suggested amounts, but, in the end, the actual amounts are up to the passengers. I assume most passengers treat the suggested amounts as minimum amounts, and adjust upward as they see fit.

The only mandatory tipping is on paid beverages, where an automatic 15% is added.

Excellent. Thanks! We were just bickering on whether it was an automatic charge if you leave an envelope empty. I WON!!!
