I'm visiting Disney from 21/8 - 23/8 and am looking to book a hotel. At the moment it looks like I'll be staying at the Kyriad, but I was hoping someone could tell me the room only prices for the Santa Fe and the Cheyenne.

I have a fantasy AP.

I'm just looking for a rough price so I know whether it's worth phoning.

If you have a look on expedia I think you can get room only rates there :)

Thanks :thumbsup2

I've just had a look and expedia want £140 a night for the Cheyenne (room only), looks like I'll be staying at the kyriad!!!

I knew the Disney hotels were expensive in peak season but I didn't know it was that bad. How do people afford it?!?

This may be of absolutely no use to you whatsoever, but I took this pic of the winter room rates on the back of our door in the Cheyenne!!

I was going to try and "describe" it, but this was much easier. Hope you can make it out!

That might be handy, thanks!

Presuming the "Haute Saison" is High season, €177 is about £115. Do fantasy AP's get 10% off? If so £103 isn't too bad. The santa Fe might be £80ish. I'll have to try and talk my girlfriend into it tonight!!! I know the Kyriad is probably ok but it's not the same!!!

Another question; do you get the extra magic hours if you stay room only???

yes you will do if you stay at a disney hotel - don't think you get this if staying at the 'near the magic' hotels though do you?

No, it's a perk of staying at the Disney hotels. The only way to benefit from EMH at the offsite ones is to buy Dream APs.

I really think the prices for Disney hotels have gone crazy over the last few years. I prefer the £57 a night room at the Holiday Inn with a pool and air con. That savings buys me my dream pass for EMH, as well as nice meals at the Disneyland Hotel, Walt's Steakhouse etc. Far better for us than staying in a crowded overpriced hotel where everyone fights for breakfast in the morning.

During peak times the holiday inn is just as expensive. For my dates it's €173 a night with breakfast.

I've decided to book the Ibis at Val D' Europe. It'll be far easy to get to than the Kyriad at Disney (no crowded shuttle bus, only 2mins away on the train) and it's only £50 a night. Although it's pretty basic, it is brand new so it should be ok. I've never been to Val D' Europe but I hear good things about it and apparently there is alot of good/cheap food places there.

I'll give it a review when I get back.

Yep - the Terrasses at Val De Europe have loads of good quality choices that are much cheaper than DLP's offerings, so great if you need to save money.

My girlfriend is paying for the trip as a birthday treat for me so it we do have to stick to a tight budget unfortunately. It'll be the first time I've been to Disney but normally I pay so we stay in a Disney hotel.

I'm sure she thinks I'm gay because I'm so excited about being in Disney on my Birthday! I'm already planning everything! The only thing I'm not looking forward to is the crowds. I've not been in peak season since '94, how insane does it get?!?

Hahahahaha - well I have 2 kids, but I get excited with every Disney trip and probably cry at least once a trip. So am I confused???

During a peak time the crowds are unbearable, so the best advice for coping is this:

GET UP EARLY - be to the park 30mins before published park opening, to make sure to get on the most popular attractions first thing. Take a break in the early afternoon - shopping? A nice table service meal (much better value, quality and less waiting than counter service, be sure to book). Enjoy thinks like the Nautilus or Adventure Isle in the afternoon. Be sure to be there at closing, then head back to La Terrasse for dinner, not the Village. If you want to eat in the village, do it when the parks are open, it's much quieter.

If you do these things, you are likely to have a much more enjoyable time!

Thanks for the tips :thumbsup2

Does La Teresse open late? We probably wont get back from the parks till about midnight (Wishes doesn't finish till 2330 and there's no way I'm missing that!!!)

La Terrasses closes at Midnight I think. Sorry I didn't realise it was this month you were going. In which case, I recommend being at the park for opening. Leave at about 11:30 and go to La Terrasses for lunch. Have a nap and go back to the park for the evening (if too busy).

But I am hearing theparks are actually quieter now than they were in the off peak season in June!

Thanks again

My girlfriends not Disney mad so I can't see her wanting to stay in all day anyway. But on my birthday she's going to have to! I'm going to go in at 10am and not leave till they kick me out! We'll probably be in the parks for the best part of 14 hours!!!
