We are planning a late August 2014 trip - wanting to do a split stay between ft wilderness cabins and then to the Beach Club villas (1 bedroom). right now there is no availability for the villas - i know rooms are held back for DVC, when are they released to the public? is late August (looking at August 24) a hard time to get one of the Villas? When should i be checking to book to make sure i can get it? thanks!!!

DVC owners are not allowed to book until 11 months before their arrival date, and then only at their home resort. Although I am not positive, it would be logical that Disney will not release DVC rooms until the same 11 month mark.

BC home resort owners can't book until September for that month. Non BC owners can book at 6 months out I believe. You're probably looking at the earliest September, and at the latest February. I imagine they open up a few after the home resort bookers and then what's leftover at the 6 month marker.

Late August is probably not out of the question in regards to getting what you need.

I'm a BCV owner. It's 11 months for booking on points at your home resort and 7 months booking on points at other DVC resorts. Availability to get a villa on cash depends on the inventory owned by Disney vs inventory owned by the owners.

One bedrooms are the easiest category to book (they only sleep 4 plus one under age 3) and August isn't a heavily popular month for DVC owners.

You should look into renting points from an owner vs paying cash; it's going to be a lot cheaper. There is a section here on the boards regarding this. Renting isn't for everybody but I believe everyone should research it as it's a way to save a considerable amount of money.

Disney typically releases their cash villas through CRO 9-10 months out, so you're waaaaaay too early.

thanks very much for the info! Am curious if anyone knows - if we stayed the first 4 nights at ft wilderness then rented DVC points for the Villas for the remainder of our stay, would i just buy tickets for the whole 9 nights with the first reservation at ft wilderness0? does that make any sense? thanks!

If you "rent points", you are responsible for getting your own park admission. You are getting your reservation from an individual, not from Disney. So there is no package that includes dining and park admission. You are only getting lodging. But you can add dining and you pay for that when you add it to the reservation. It must be added at least two days before your reservation.

Yes, buy your tickets for your entire vacation with the Ft Wilderness stay. You can either have a package (room + tickets) or room only reservation and buy your tickets separately.
