Hi,

DH, our 2 friends and I will be spending a couple weeks at WDW in October.

However, we would really like to snorkle, swim, etc in some beautiful springs. We would not mind going an hour or so from the Orlando area.

We saw a beautiful waterway that a lady was tubing in on a "Come see Florida" commercial.

Could you help us find that crystal clear, beautiful place to snorkle and tube in? If you didn't see the commercial, just imagine the most clear water you've ever seen.

Thanks and we look forward to hearing from you.

I'm sure that there are many that would fit that description, but I immediately thought of Blue Spring State Park in Orange City. I've seen snorkelers there and I think that it's one of the larger springs along the St Johns River. It's also a manatee refuge, but you'll probably miss the manatees in October as they start showing up sometime in November.

Orange City is north of Orlando via I-4 (maybe 30 to 45 minutes from downtown Orlando). Go to www.floridastateparks.org to find out more about the state parks, like Blue Springs, in the general area.

Hi Detailor

We would love to do the same but would like to see the manatees. We will be in Floirda in April....would we see any manatees then?

That was one of the places DH found. Glad to hear that you recommend it. Thank you!

I don't think so, you'll probably miss them by a few weeks. The manatees make their way into the springs and to warmer water in places like power plants as the rivers get cold. So, the weather will dictate when you're likely to find manatees in a place like Blue Spring. I suppose if it's cool in March and April that you may get to see them. They're quite amazing to see, so good luck if you happen to go.
