Hello, my second favorite country in the whole world is the UK and I have long admired its people.

I have a niece who recently moved outside of London, Billercay, and she has invited me to come and visit. I will have two teenagers with me, a niece and my oldest grandson.

I have never traveled outside the US and am in great need of some help.

We can only come during school break (June thru Aug). Is there a time when it might be cheaper, airfare wise, or better weather wise?

Any and all information will be quite appreciated and hope to see you next year!! This is a lifelong dream trip.

Billericay is not far from where I live. It's about half an hour train journey from the City of London.

Can't help you with air fares but the weather here is a bit of a lottery! It could be really sunny anytime from June to August but equally it could be raining!

Yes make sure you bring an umbrella!

Hello you kind people

After having read and studied up on your country pretty much my whole life (I can even name all six of Henry's wives LOL) I am well prepared for the weather. It is heat I cannot stand so I think I am well set and have such a thick head of hair, naturally curly, so I do not need to worry about my hairdo. :flower:

Jackie, how thrilled I am to hear from you! I just answered your pm and am hoping that we can correspond and possibly meet next year. Maybe we can have a great big DIS meet on your side of the pond.

Mr-D, they say that familiarity breeds contempt and it is possible that you might know more about some things American than I do. I have relatives that live in Indianapolis and had never been to the Indy 500 and I lived near Churchill Downs and never went to the Kentucky Derby. When you live nearby something you tend to put off seeing it cause it will 'always' be there. LOL

I am a student of history and you have more of it than we do. :rotfl:

When I walk on ground trod on by the accomplished I feel their spirits and honor their memory. When I touched one of the clay soldiers of China I felt something that was on Earth when Jesus walked here and felt it in my heart.

Mushy but true. Is not only the cold stones of history that I yearn to see and touch but to meet the people who have accomplished so much in the history of the world and with such spirit and tenacity. I truly admire the English people. (that being said I would avoid marryng any of your royalty) :wizard:
