I'm considering upgrading my ticket to the seasonal annual pass to take advantage of the AP room discounts. I bought tickets through Ares travel when they had buy 2 days get one day free. I paid $264 for my ticket. The ticket says 2 park 3 day PTP Adult SC, it doesn't say it's a promotional ticket so what value will be applied to the seasonal pass, $264 or $295, the current 3 day price from universal?

I want to make sure I understand everything correctly so I'm not surprised when I try to upgrade and it ends up costing me more than I anticipate.

Is it beneficial to use the ticket once to enter the park before upgrading?
I do not need the AP to book a room, but will need to show the front desk after I upgrade before checking out, correct?

Since your pass does not list promo, I would assume you would get the full value of what you paid when you upgrade to an ap

Could be the ap might cost less and you would get money back when you do the transaction

I would have to read up on ap costs to make sure

I have had my preferred ap since 2003 and just renew it each year and not current on the seasonal or power ap

I have an AP, I have stayed many times with AP rates, and I have NEVER been asked to show my AP at the desk. I wouldn't risk booking an AP rate without having one, but it may not be necessary to go back to the desk to show it later.

DH upgraded a 4 day ticket to a seasonal AP and they gave him a small GC ($5-$10, can't remember), so I would think you might have to pay a bit to upgrade your 3 day. I think in the past we have been given the value of the gate price when upgrading; it definitely is not the price we paid when buying through Undercover Tourist. I don't know what Ares is.

As to when you upgrade, make sure there are no blockout dates for the seasonal while you are there. Concert days at US are blocked out also.
