We've been SO many times over the course of the last 5 years that physically I just can't do it anymore, but yet somehow here I am. LOL. Our time at the parks will be minimal and in the past we stayed at Contemporary just so we have the easy walk to/from MK & the monorail. This go around we're more interested in the water parks, relaxing at the pool, hanging out at DTD and eating. Our dates will definitely be sometime in the first week-2nd week of November (Jersey week).

1. Will Blizzard Beach/Typhoon Lagoon be likely closed for the season during this time?
2. What resort has an awesome pool? My daughter will be 10 so she'll want a fun pool for sure (slides, etc.) -- leaning more towards Beach Club, Yacht Club and Boardwalk Resorts.

Please any input greatly appreciated! =)

Beach Club/Yacht Club has Stormalong Bay, so that should fill the bill for your daughter.

Neither one of the water parks is scheduled for a refurbishment this year, so there's no way of knowing for 2017. They may do one in Jan 2017 and wait for the other one in 2018. They may do what they did last year, and close one from Oct-Jan and then close the other one. Sorry, but that's one part of your plan you'll have to do a wait and see.

We've been going at this time of year for the past several years. Last year BB was closed down, and the Disney calendar shows the same thing for this year too. Every so often they switch it up, and then it will be TL turn to close down during fall. As for the resort pool that is very easy---BEACH CLUB by a mile. There is NO pool on property better than Stormalong Bay. It is so good that we don't even bother with the water parks when we stay at the Beach Club.

Thank you! I just found out the pools at BC/YC have sand bottoms. My daughter has SPD and not sure we want to go through challenges for 2-3 days until she gets 'used' to it or dislikes it so much she just wont. I do love the slide and lazy river though!

Yeah, they are definitely sand bottom--although not as sandy in some areas of the pools. There are other great pools on property--Poly, BWV, etc. I even like some of the moderates like POR and CSR pool areas too. Since we have been DVC for the past few years, I just mentioned those as example.

:thanks:

If you want to do something around the resorts to enjoy then I would recommend the Epcot resorts as there is some good restaurants around the area and some nighttime entertainment.

ErinsMommy, Maybe I remember incorrectly, but I seem to recall that only parts of Stormalong Bay have a sand bottom.

I think the pools at AKV/AKL are great. The one at Kidani has a kids splash zone, and AKL has a bird pool right next to the regular pool, along with a savannah overlook.

Whenever you go, at least one water park will be open. If one is closed for the season, the other will be open. The only time they are both closed if when it's really cold (for Florida) - under 50 I think?

If you are nervous about how your daughter will react to the sand at SAB, I would go with BWI. My DS8 (who also has tactile sensory issues) actually prefers the pool at BWI over BC/YC. I do too. The way it's designed, you can sit in one spot and see everything that's going on - you can see the kids waiting to get on the slide, watch them do the pool parties, even grab a drink or snack at the bar and still keep your eye on everyone. It's also wide enough so you can actually swim. SAB is really rambling. BWI is just a super fun resort with great theming and nighttime activities - if you go make sure to get ice cream at Ample Hills!

Both of the water parks close for refurbishment every year during the cooler months, albeit not at the same time. This year BB is scheduled to be closed from Oct 23-Dec 24, and TL is scheduled to be closed starting Dec 25, I would assume till about Feb 25.

Thanks for the correction. I checked allearsnet, and didn't see anything there for either of the water parks.
