Hi All,
This will be my first time staying at OKW and looking at the map can be quite deceiving! One building might look like it is close to the main pool, hospitality house or bus stop, on the map, but in reality there may be landscape and trees that prevent you from walking a straight path which in turn would make it farther. Does that make sense? Also, the map doesnt show if there are any bridges to get across water ways.

Having said all that, here are my questions:

1. Which buildings would be where all the "hustle and bustle" would be?

2. The buildings 11-14 (North Cove/Hospitality Houses) on the map look like they are closest to the Main Building, but do you have to cross a street to get there? It looks like those buildings are actually in front of the main building, and therefore a little more private. Away from the "hustle and bustle". Would this be true?

3. Would either building 23 ( Peninsula Rd) or Building 62 ( Millers Rd) be a straight shot to the Main building?

4. I think we might want to request being on ground floor, but I read somewhere somebody said ground level floors get very little sunlight (because of the trees). Have you found this to be a noticable problem?

5. Which building would be most convenient to wherever the water taxi to DTD docks?

6. Also, What is your favorite building and why?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Did you book with DVC points or through CRO? DVC members have a "near Hospitality House" category, which is buildings 11 to 14 and 23 to 26. I don't believe they are available with CRO reservations.

There is no bridge across the waterway.

My favorite buildings are 37 and 43. Great views and quiet.

We are booking with DVC points. Are HH buildings more hidden from all the activity, or are they central to it?

They are close to the Hospitality House which is the main building with the restaurants, check in, gift shop. So I would not call them removed from anything.

The HH is where the everything is(checkin, store, restaurant, etc). I was previously told by MS that it was difficult to get HH if you were booking 7 months out or less. An OKW owner can confirm this.

I don't remember what building I stayed in, but I took the bus to HH for breakfast, etc. because it was too far for me to walk. I would then walk to the bus stop across the bridge to get back to the room because it was quicker than getting the bus at HH.

I think you'll enjoy your stay at OKW, just realize that it is a large resort and you may want to take the bus to get to other parts of it.

If you can't get the HH section, we also like to stay near turtle pond. It is the second bus stop. The quiet pool there is quite large with a nice hot tub as well as playground. There is also a snack area there that includes beer and wine. They also have shuffle board there. The main pool is great, but the kids really like that pool for relaxing and late night swims. You can hop on any bus and it will take you to the main check in area as the final stop before leaving the resort to go to a park. We walk, as it only takes about 10 minutes and we enjoy the beautiful grounds. We've stayed there 4 times and love it!:lovestruc

I just looked at a map, and we stayed in 27, 33, and 35. 27 was great because it was right by the first bus stop and near the main area. But we also really liked 33 and 35. We had nice views, were close to the second bus stop, and right between 2 of the pools.

In order to get buildings 11 to 14 or 23 to 26, your reservation would need to state "near hospitality house".

I would stay away from buildings 28 & 29, the views are the back of trees. 28 was the least favorite building I ever got.

We were just at OKW (returned home yesterday). We were in HH category building 13. It was a short walk to the restaurant and other main areas. There are little "pathways" and crosswalks to use when crossing the street. It took approximately 5 minutes. It is a good category of rooms for those who don't rent a car and would prefer to be within comfortable walking distance of the main facilities. Our room view (we were in a 2-bedroom unit) was very nice -- a golf course view with water and a small "fountain". We were on the 3rd floor, so it was pretty quiet.

We also like the water views in some of the buildings on South Point. It really comes down to what is most convenient for your family. We enjoy the HH category.

I would think that HH area villas would be easy to get at 7 months out because most OKW owners wouldn't want them (that is just my opinion, though). There are so many better areas at OKW than these villas. There are no bridges to cross over waterways except for the car/bus bridge near the HH. Just stay on the sidewalks. Otherwise, you may be walking on the golf course and that isn't permitted unless you are golfing.
