Please help me name this movie!

My brother and I were talking last night about a movie we watched dozens of times when we were younger but neither of us can remember the name. It came on TV all the time in the late 80's/early 90's. It had 3-4 teenage kids that had parents in the military and they became POW's in ______ (Korea maybe?) so the kids went over to set them free. Thanks for any help!

Iron Eagle.

Lou Gossett Jr was the guy who mentored the young hot shot. Kid liked to listen to his walkman when he flew.

yep, sounds like iron eagle. group of military kids plot to rescue one of the kids' dad, who is a fighter pilot and was shot down over a hostile country (looked like a middle eastern country, if memory serves). with the help of a retired colonel (lou gossett, jr.), the group manages to rescue dad.

Could it be The Rescue? My brother just told me he was asking around at work and his co-workers said "The Rescue". I've looked them both up but they seem so similar it's hard to tell!

Maybe I'll have to watch them both to be able to know! Thanks for the help!

The Rescue is the one I was thinking of. God, I haven't seen that movie in ages!

Me either! (if that's even the movie ) We really want to watch it again after we started talking about it. I know at the end of whatever movie I'm thinking of all of the kids are riding in a helicopter.

As they are coming up on "friendly" air space, flying out of hostile country, do they have to hoist the little brother of the one girl up so he can flash the US jet fighters his Bruce Springsteen T-shirt so they know they are "friendlies" and so they don't get shot down?

Is so, then it would be The Resuce. If it's got Lou G in it, then it's Iron Eagle. God I love the movies of the 80's.
