I have to go back to work from maternity leave soon and need a DL trip to plan to get me through! Please help me pick a week!

Some considerations:

* All adults and a 4yo girl/ 1 yo boy
* Mid week is fine
* Considering any week between labor day and Xmas
* Would like to minimize crowds
* Probably wouldn't do the Halloween party (or would the adults like it too? Thinking a lot of $$ for just the enjoyment of my 4 yo).
* Don't care about Space Mtn or Haunted Mansion as they are prob too scary for my kids!
* Staying onsite

Thanks!

oh one more thing, Im a bit scared of the heat in Sept…we went in May '14 and it was 106 degrees. Totally minimized our time in the parks!

The entire Fall season, from September to year-end is crazy busy nowadays, and getting busier.
Between marathon weekends, Gay Days, Dapper Days (with their super-cheap discounted rates on both hotels and tickets), HalloweenTime, and the holidays...what used to be a slow time just isn't anymore.

In 2016, the 60th Anniversary activities officially end September 5th...that might reduce some crowds. I wouldn't go in September anyways, if you don't like the heat. The past few years have been HOT in September, and it doesn't seem to be getting any better.

One of the best times in terms of crowds and weather would be the first week of November. HalloweenTime is over, Holiday Time won't have officially started, and the weather will be much cooler...you will deal with shorter park hours, but if you go for several days, you'd still get most of what you want to get done, done. :) Also, with major construction underway and parts of the park closed off for pretty much all of 2016, it may reduce crowds as well.

I was thinking of leaving the day after Halloween! Thanks for the advice. Next year, Halloween is on a MOnday so hopefully people won't take the entire week off?

I agree that there really isn't that much of a slow season in the later half of the year anymore because of the popularity of HalloweenTime and the holidays. While no one really knows what will happen next year (due to the construction around the Rivers of America), I'd be inclined to say the two slowest periods are going to be immediately after Labor Day (before the start of HalloweenTime) and the first week in November (after the end of HalloweenTime and before the start of the holidays). You can get a sense of what activities/events might be happening in 2016 by looking at the 2015 Calendar of Events Thread; the 2016 thread is still pretty sparse for the latter half of the year.

If you go in September, you do run the risk of warm temperatures. HydroGuy has a Detailed Weather Data for DLR thread that can help you get a sense of the potential weather you might encounter.

I highly doubt too many people would take a whole week off for Halloween, outside of those like you who are planning a vacation for that week. There will definitely be people in the parks, just not nearly as many as normal. :)
