Please Help Me Decide Where to Stay

Of all the resort buses, I have to say AKV's buses are the best. Jambo may at times have waits to get on one but the drivers are supposed to call dispatch and let them know to send another bus right over if that happens. Doesn't hurt to check with the driver.

The open air boats servicing VWL are cccold if you're traveling in the late fall/winter and there's a spray in the air, but the atmosphere and fireplaces are very welcoming to return to :goodvibes The two boats used most often for VWL & FW have plenty of enclosed seating.

Don't they still make the loop for the mini golf?

Yes, they will still stop there for the mini golf... thanks for reminding me, I've got to try that this year :rotfl:.

We've stayed at values and moderates on cash, plus AKV Kidani, AKV Jambo, BCV and BWV - our best bus service has always been at AKV. Perhaps it's just luck, but I do like how direct it is. If you were going for Food & Wine, then staying at BWV would make a lot of sense. But if you plan to go to all the parks, I think you'll be happy with what you booked. :thumbsup2

So I went ahead and booked a 1 bedroom at Jambo House in AKV. After reading a few AKL threads I'm starting to doubt my choice. We plan on using the buses to get around and I've read about how terrible the bus service is, especially at Jambo House. Since the buses stop at Kidani first, we will probably always have to stand (which isn't easy when holding 2 kids under 5, bags and double stroller...if we even fit on the bus at all). I'm wondering if I should call and change our resort, or at least switch to Kidani so we can get on the bus first. I'm worried...

So did you opt for 6 nights at a standard view or 5 nights of savanna view?

Hi everyone! We opted to stay at Animal Kingdom in a one bedroom standard view. Honestly, the more that I think about it, I don't really mind a standard view. I love seeing the animals, but since we're staying at AKL in January I doubt we'll be on our balcony that much. Also, I'm hoping that since most of the standard view rooms are located towards the front of the resort, we'll be closer to the lobby and bus transportation. I'm still a little worried about the bus stopping at Kidani first, but again, January is a pretty slow time of year so I doubt we'll have that problem. Thanks so much for your help everyone!!

PS.. We are also staying in a 2 Bedroom near the HH at OKW for one night. This trip is built around an Eastern Caribbean Cruise on the Magic, so we have one night before the cruise and then 5 nights afterward at AKLV. I'm excited!

Just came back from our second stay at AKV Kidani. It was as wonderful as the first time, just a gorgeous and unique resort. I really miss seeing the zebras in the morning now that we're back!

As for the bus service, it's very good. We never waited more than 10 minutes. DTD is another matter though, no matter what resort we've stayed at for some reason the wait for those is longer both getting to and coming back from.

My DH and I own at AKV. We chose it because we would have more years than VWL but sincerely VWL would have been our first choice. Wilderness just has that feeling about it that is comfortable & "homey". AKV also does that for us and generally, I get to feeling like I might actually be in Africa if spend a few days just at the resort. We love Jambo House and have never had a problem with the buses. I think the longest wait we ever had was 10 minutes & that was coming from Kidani!

So I would say you can't go wrong with either VWL or AKV. :)
