I am having the hardest time deciding what we should do July 4! Our plane lands at MCO at 10:45am on July 4. We'll take ME to WL for our 5 night/6 day stay. Where should we go to celebrate the 4th? I think we'll be too late for MK. Has anyone experienced HS on the 4th? Will Epcot be unbearably crowded?

We will be there on the 4th but we arrive on the 3rd so we are rope dropping MK. From reading a lot, it sounds like Illuminations with the extra holiday part is amazing. I would probably try for Epcot in your situation. Maybe schedule an ADR which would help you get in in the off chance there are low level closures?

We have done mk, EC, HS all on the forth before
EC didn't feel crowded, HS was ok, mk is a sardine can

We were at Epcot last July 4th. It was slightly more crowded than a typical summer day. However, with Fast passes we were able to do the headliner rides. Counter service lunch was not a problem. ADR for dinner was a must. We also needed to stake out a spot way ahead of time for Illuminations which got very crowded. But the special patriotic fireworks at the end of Illuminations were just spectacular. We wouldn't hesitate going to Epcot again to celebrate July 4th. If you can catch a performance of the Voices of Liberty at the American Pavilion it is very moving!

We went to Epcot of July 4th 2 years ago and are doing the same again this year. Illuminations with the special 4th fireworks are amazing. But, it was very very crowded. People were staked out quite a while before hand. We just stood back somewhere near Japan. Probably not the best view, but we ended up loving it. We did have an ADR and we have one again, so we plan to go in for the evening. They have EMH that night as well.

Thank you for your replies. I just made our ADR for Biergarten- (not your traditional July 4th food but one of our favorites :-)) We are very excited to see the July 4th version of Illuminations!

We were at WDW last year for the 4th and made it a non-park day to avoid the crowds. We had dinner at Beaches and Cream (if you call the Kitchen Sink dinner LOL!), let the kids play in the arcade, wandered around the Epcot resort area then about 30 minutes before Illuminations we wandered over to the bridge by the Boardwalk. Some other people there too but nothing crowded. We had a great view of the Illuminations fireworks (amazing) and before they were even over we could see HS fireworks on the other side. Lots of fun, not crowded and I would totally do that kind of relaxing day again over crazy parks.

Last year we went to Epcot on the 4th, we had to leave just after the fireworks started so we got to see a little bit. My little one started to fall asleep and we forgot her umbrella stroller and she is just to heavy to carry through the park by me. It was crowded, but I didn't think it was too bad. I was expecting much worse! This year we are going to go to DTD for dinner at splitsville then spend some time at the resort.

Right now my plan is to brave the mk. We have been at wdw on the fourth for several years, but always opted for the other parks.

I have lunch ADR at liberty tree and dinner at BOG, and I made FP selections today for the afternoon/evening.

I'm having second thoughts though about the crowds and now am rethinking and maybe going to Epcot instead. I'm a chicken because dd is in a wheelchair and I worry about not being able to move!

We will be there the same week, but missing the 4th. I am expecting it to be very busy, also staying at WL, can't wait.
