Please help me create name from character paper

Sometime last year (or the year before), there were discussions on how to create names using character-themed paper. I did not print the directions and now I cannot find the thread.

My six-year old has an "all about me" assignment and I'd like to create his name using Buzz Lightyear paper, like this:

On the Creative DISigns section of the forums, many of them make sigs like that for others.

If you are wanting to do it yourself, you need a scanned in Buzz image or paper. You also need a graphics program like Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro.

The steps in PSP would be to open a blank image in the size you want. Type in the name with the background color transparent in a big chunky font. Make sure the foreground color matches your paper. Then change to the lower layer and cut and paste in the buzz image. Resize and move it around til you are happy with the placement in the letters. Go back to the text layer. Use the magic wand and highlight all the letters (shift click). Now go to selections > invert and then click back on the buzz paper layer and hit your delete key. If you want to add other things, now would be the time. Merge all visible layers and save, you are done.
