I'm so confused! I put down deposit Friday for our cruise. I opted not for the insurance.

I am now looking at insuremytrip and it is overwhelming to me! I don't know what I need and there are so many choices on there!

We will be driving. My DD has a peanut allergy so I don't know if that is considered preexisting or not? Regardless, I want to make sure if something happened she would be covered.

What did many of you go with??? I'm thinking about going back and adding Disney's cause it just seems easier. I think I'll call and ask them about the allergy. I dunno... Thoughts?

Thanks!

OK, some things to consider....does your health insurance pay for a medical evacuation if needed (this can cost 25K!!!!). I suspect that they would consider the peanut allergy to be a pre-existing condition--my experience with insurance companies is that they try anything remotely legit to get out of paying.

Most companies require you to purchase insurance within 2 weeks of booking for a pre-existing condition to be covered. The basic situation is that you can pay a couple hundred $ for insurance (there are several good private companies...consider this especially if you are not booking the whole thing thru DCL--like air, a pre or post WDW stay, etc.) Best case, nothing happens and you "wasted" your money. Worst case, your child has a severe allergy issue the day before you leave home and you have to cancel--without insurance you would lose the total cost of the cruise. OR, you could have a serious issue on board--you lose the cost of the trip plus the medical evacuation or whatever.

After having been done in by hurricane Jeane last year, I'd vote for insurance. DCL treated us fairly, but the rebate we got on the cruise didn't cover the additional nights at WDW (locked in our resort room due to the hurricane).

Travel Guard and Access America are 2 decent private companies.
