Please help in small panic with computer

It wasn't protected a while ago and now it is. I think there was a glitch in the system.

Mine says I am protected now too. Weird. I didn't even try updating it again. I went to watch 24 and when I came back it was updated already. BTW, I will still let everyone know what Symantec has to say but their website says they will respond to my question in 48 hours  It was either that or pay $29.95 for a tech support phone call since chat wasn't working for me. I'll let you all know what I get for a response though. Glad everyone seems to be protected again. It is very unnerving when something like that happens to me too. I could get fired for spreading a virus to my coworkers.

I do not plan to renew in June. I talked with a computer person and mcafee and norton are the worst anti virus and AVG is the best.

Interesting thread. I got a Norton message that I AM protected against the trojan.peacomm virus. Maybe it has something to do with the Norton version you are running?

I'm running Norton Internet Security 2006 with my subscription due in May 2007.

it said I was protected against the virus outbreak, I am also running Norton Internet Security 2006 expiring in June 2007..this is the first time in years that I haven't had 'some' issue with something in Norton working correctly, so I hope it lasts!
Good luck to those of you who have contacted the virus..keep trying the Norton/Symantec online help, they may be extremely busy!

Here is the response that I got from Norton tech support. Basically, it says that we should be using the Ingelligent Updater which is fine but I tried that yesterday too and it also wasn't working for me. Did everyone get theirs downloaded and working correctly now? I am wondering if all of us that had the problem all have the same version? Mine is 2005 Internet Security. Anyone else? Perhaps it was only a problem with the 2005 version. Anyway, hope everyone is all set now and just wanted to let you read the response that I got.

Thank you for contacting Symantec Online Technical Support.

I understand from your message that you are receiving an Outbreak Alert from Norton Internet Security (NIS) that you are not protected from 'Trojan.Peacomm'.

Kimberly, this issue can be caused if the virus definitions for your Norton product was not completely downloaded on your system. In order to resolve this issue, please update the virus definitions using the Intelligent Updater.

The Intelligent Updater is available as either one large file, or several smaller files. The large file is best for users that have network or dial-up connections to the Internet. The smaller files may be copied to floppy disks, and used to update computers that do not have Internet access.

For information on how to update your Virus Definition files using the Intelligent Updater, please see our online document, located at the following Web address:

Please note that the above document contains an automated tool that you need to run to automatically download the virus definitions using the Intelligent Updater. If you are unable to run the automated tool, please click on the 'What if this didn't work?' link which will provide you with instructions on manually using the Intelligent Updater.

If I can be of further assistance, please let me know.

Regards,

Interesting response but why did it do it then all of a sudden just clear is up what I don't understand. It's fishy sorry but I've learned things about norton that makes me want to not renew.
