i need to know which carriers fly from Il to CA looking for a decent fare thanks

SW flies to CA and they're the cheapest I've ever seen. I've gotten DINGed with a few $69 each way to CA fares.

In the past, we've used Hotwire.com for air to CA. We ended up flying Continental and connecting somewhere (don't remember where) and almost missing our connection. It was a big hassle and we decided then that we would only fly direct if we ever returned to CA. The recent DING fares have been very tempting but we're already scheduled to go to WDW in November so we won't be going to CA anytime soon.

I'd recommend pluggin in a few city pairs into Orbitz, Travelocity or one of the other on-line travel sites and seeing what you come up with. On Orbitz, you can tell them you prefer non-stops, and they can search on those, in addition to the connecters. Surely United and American fly Chicago to various California destinations. SWA is probably cheaper, (but not always). Go see for yourself.
