Ok. So I have been stalking the boards and reading everything, but still have questions. Maybe I'm just a little slow, but I just want to make sure I don't make a fool of myself when I get to Disney. I am taking my kids (ages 5 and 8) to Disney for 3 nights for my son's birthday. I have chosen to get the deluxe dining plan. Seeing as how I will be there by myself with 2 kids in Aug, I thought the table service (and a/c) would be nice. We have some TS not buffet, some buffet, and will use a couple credits for QS. Here are my questions:

1. When at the non buffet TS, for the kids meal, do they get to order a kiddie app?

2. Are the "prix fixe" entrees excluded from the DDP? Like at chefs de France or LA Hacienda de San Angel?

3. When the kids order a QS kids meal do they get to order ANY dessert? I don't see any kid specific desserts listed. I would assume that the kids meal with 2 sides is like a combo meal and they should be able to order a dessert too, but have seen some posts say otherwise.

4. I know most rumors are just that, but maybe someone can confirm (or deny), if my friend joins us one day and I use my credits to pay for her will I end up being told I only have child credits left at my last meal and end up having to pay OOP for my adult meal?

Any other friendly advice on the deluxe DDP would be greatly appreciated. You guys are so awesome! Thank you all in advance for all your help!

P.S. not Disney newbies (actually go twice a year) but always had TIW in the past. First time on DDP and super confused.

Okay, it has been a while since we had a "child" on the DDP so this is based on my fuzzy memory. LOL!

The kids menu usually has appetizers for the children to choose. I remember soup as one of the choices as well as sld at teh restaurants we went to. The children also get to choose a dessert from the kids menu. On QS meals they have kids selections, and I remember my DGD getting grapes as one choice. She loved fruit so she chose that a lot.

I have read that the Prix Fixe items are included, but have no personal experience.

We have had reports that Disney has allowed others not on the plan to use credits, but there is no formal announcement yet, so no one can say for sure if that will hold true in every restaurant. On the DxDDP the credits are pooled so in theory, you should be able to use a "child" credit for an adult, but Disney has stipululated the children MUST order from the kids menu, however if you pay OOP for your child, the adult should be able to use the credit.

You are not alone in your confusion. WE are not new to the DDP, but we are new to these changes, and while we are not THOSE people who cheat, we have no problem maximizing the plan if the choices we make fall within Disney guidelines. I just wish Disney would be more clear when they let slip their new rules. WE have one room on the DxDDp and one on the regular DDP. We alwys order appetizers anyway, and share them, and we always are way over our credits so my daughter crunched the numbers and decided we would at least break even with our OOP spending even if none of the changes are implemented for us, so we decided to go for it and pay more upfront, and have the cost at the back end reduced. She tracks every penny (accountant! LOL!) so we will have more to report when we return.

Last November when I ate at Chefs de France you could order the Prix Fixe menu which we did so we could try the soup and not have to pay out of pocket. The entree choices are limited (you can't order the more expensive ones) but if you like once of the options it's a good way to go.

Kid's QS meals are a complete meal. The items listed with each entree will be the healthier options, but almost every QS place has substitutions for the kids that include a cookie. They will NOT be able to order an adult dessert. Their dessert is either fruit or a cookie.
