I've can't quite decide what to do and am hoping some of you dining plan experts can help me.

I will be traveling to Disney in July. There will be two adults and one child (5 years old) for 7 nights/8 days. We will have the basic dining plan (1TS, 1CS, 1 snack).

I have made 9 ADRs with 3 Character meals. (CRT is already paid for and therefore not included in the 9 ADRs).

My oldest son (adult) will be joining us for 2 nights/3 days. The problem is if he is added to the room, then I will be charged the DDP for 7 nights for him, although he will be only be there for 2 nights/3 days. He will be there for 3 ADRs.

If I get him the dining plan, then all of our ADRs would be included, and would give us 5 extra CS and 5 extra snacks. Based on my calculation, having him on the dining plan would cover an additional 175.00 in table services and it would leave 145.00 to cover the CS and snacks.

So, please help me decide if I should put him on the room and use his dining credits, or pay OOP.

Thanks Karen

If you put him on the plan and he only uses 3 credits, then you have your 4 extra adult credits for you and DH's extra meals and will not have to pay OOP for them. The 5 extra adult CS could be used for breakfasts to share between the three of you or if some of your TSs are breakfast, you'd have an extra lunch or dinner.

So, does the cost of the DDP for him cover his three ADRs and your 4 extra ADRs?

The math may be irrelevant as I'm pretty sure you have to add him to the reservation if he's going to be staying with you. What about tickets? Will you also have to buy the same number of days ticket for him? You may need to post this question over on the theme park board.

Thanks for the quick response. I've rented points and am staying at OKW, so I don't have to buy him the same number of days ticket for him. Since we are staying within the room number, there is no charge for him for the room.

And, yes the cost to the DDP for him will cover his three ADRs and our 4 extra ADRs. I'm thinking it's a good deal, as like you said I can use the extra CS to pay for breakfast. And, the snacks can always be goodies to bring back home (which we did last year).

Thanks again! Karen
