Hello all. Hopefully I can word this so I don't sound completely lame. I am on the fence about adding the dining plan to our (hopeful!!) trip in December 2007. We only have one child a daughter who is 9 will be 10 this December. She is a good eater by good I mean she is a decently hearty eater but she tends to be rather picky. She always orders off of the kids menu when we go out to eat at home. She does not usually like to try new things. I know NOTHING about DDP or even the prices of it. My hubby (31) and I (30) are good (non-picky) eaters. So would it be a good idea for us to use the dining plan or not? We would be paying for DD like she was an adult right? But, would they allow her to use the kid menu or not. How would that work with the plan. I am sorry about all of hte questions but I sould SO MUCH love some help! Thanks!

If she turns 10 before your trip begins than you need to pay for her as an adult. If she turns 10 while on the trip then she is considered under 10 for trip pricing. I believe the current price for DDP is $37.99 per adult per day and 10.99 per child per day. If she is considered an adult (my 11 yo was in July) she will be able to mix and match from the child and adult menu to create her food choices. In other words my DD ordered her appetizers from the children's menu, her entree fromth adult menu and dessert from the children's menu many times. She also ordered a kids meal a few times and they gave her a double order for double the price. We still felt the cost of the DDP was worth it and will use it again in the summer. THere is never a problem when an adult wants to order form the children's menu on the DDP it jsut isn't allowed for a child to order off the adult menu. As for CS your DD might prefer the adult choices to the children's offerings--mine prefers pizza, chicken fingers, burgers, hot dogs, etc, most of which are not on the children's menus. If you are planning on doing any character buffets the DDP will certainly save you money as the price per person at these venues has increased dramatically over the past few years. We used the DDP in July, we used it as we would normally eat while on vacation and found it to work out perfectly. For the price you get 1 TS, 1CS and 1 sanck per person. THe Ts included appetizer, entree dessert and beverage and the CS includes one entree or combo meal, dessert and beverage and of course the snacks vary but could be popcorn, ice cream, a few things from the bakery, soda, water, frozen lemonade, etc. Not every available snack of $4.00 or under is included , but there is a very good variety.

Go to mousesavers or allearsnet and read the information about the plan. Then you can ask some more pointed questions about your specific needs or confusions. I think the general nature of your inquiry will discourage people from responding - we don't know what to say as it could take pages.

Thanks very much. Your information was very helpful!

I divided the numbers according to the snack, counter service and table service catagories.
This is what I found, in general: Snack =$4 ; counter service =$12 and Table service = $22 ( I threw in a penny).

It all varies according to your food choices, but this is the general cost on which I am basing my restaurant decisions. I think It will be easier to evaluate the dining plan's effectiveness doing this.

If I am wrong , please tell me. :wave2:

I found TS meals to be more than $22 when you include an appetizer, dessert, beverage and tax & tip. Of course that was just my experience! ;)

i Don't explain things very well. That breakdown is what the DDp costs per day. So If a TS location is over $22, i figure DDP is going to save me money. Yeah the TS restaurants I have looked at have been well over $22. EVen lunch pricing. Maybe I should stick with totaling up every meal to see if DDp is worth it.
