I just realized that I will be in Italy during the dates that I will need to be calling in a hard-to-get reservation day by day. To make matters worse, on the first day, I will probably be on a train at 9:00 am eastern when MS opens.

Does anyone know how I can do this? Will my U.S. cell phone work? Or will I need a "real" line? Do I just dial the 1-800-WHATEVER number? Or is there some special prefix I need to know? Or is there a different number when calling from outside the U.S.?

Help! I'm almost ready to cancel my Italy trip to make sure I can get the land of the mouse!

Hi Michelle,

There is a special number we dial from the UK in order to get "free" calls to MS. However I would not have expected this to work from Italy :(

We need an Italian DVC Member to see this!

Is there not anyone you can leave with strict instructions what to do back at home?
Sometimes I have to leave DH to book and it does make me shudder a little ;) but he normally gets it right :teeth:

I got a list of numbers but they do not include Italy. The flyer I have says "If you don't see an access code listed for your country, please ask a Vacation Advisor when planning your next vacation, to find out if thre is a speical access code for your country"

I would suggest phoning MS as they may have a number to give you.

Good luck.

Hi Michelle,
I think that your cell phone would need to be a tri band to work in europe.
I would also check with your service provider what telecom company they use in Italy to route the calls. Then you could check via the net as to coverage etc in the area that you will be in to make sure that you will get a signal!.
I would also look at using a long distance calling plan to get the cost of the calls reduced. We use swiftcall from the US to UK at a cost of 5c a minute.
the direct dial is about $2.50 a minute!
Hope this helps a little, and good luck with the ressies.

I can't add any information, just wanted to wish you luck with your trip and your DVC plans :)
