Please help clear this up regarding changing resorts

Say you book a vacation package 6 months ago.... you have a room at CBR, you snag free dining, you get all your ADRs, etc.

6 days before you go, you realize you can spend another $700. You check, and the numbers work where - if you keep the free dining - you can stay at AKL.

Is there a way to change your Package so that you keep your free dining, but you upgrade to the AKL from CBR? Or will they not allow this?
 
The room would have to be available under the promotion, and if it is an expired promotion, the regular CRO CM's may not be able to make the change for you...you may need to deal with guest services I believe.

Yes you can change if the discount is still available and there is availability. Disney will not penalize you for spending more money. The chances of the room being available at 6 days out with a FD discount is probably pretty slim. If you want to stay at Akl I would just book it now.
 
I called and I can change, but as you all have indicated, its based upon availability - so in this instance, the only availability are certain premium features that, while nice, aren't within the budget for this trip. I was sort of surprised that they might have had any availability with free dining, but alas they did.

Guest services does not have to do it. We regular cm's can do it. But yes, pending availability. If you were changing from value to mod or deluxe under expired code, then yes they would. But we handle that, they don't take over the call for it.
 
I made a change to an expired promotion made with a pin (changed the dates). The regular CM was able to do it. As others indicated there has to be availability in the resort and room category.
