Here's the situation:
Booked POR on the room only discount for April 18-25. It was less than $100 more than CB, I figured it was worth it for the possibility of a refurbed room, queen beds, etc. Stayed there in 2010 and loved it.

THEN I got a PIN today for % off...entered everything in, POR not available with PIN but CB is and $130 cheaper than with the room discount.

SO...is POR worth over $200 more than CB? The reviews on allears are decent but there are some really terrible reviews on tripadvisor.

Thoughts? Kids will be just shy of 3 and 5 when we go. Also want to make sure DH enjoys the vacation as he's not quite a Disney-fied as I am...

I love POR, its my favorite resort. That said, I would go with CBR. The age of your kids will have them loving that main pool area at CBR. It has zero entry, a pirate splash area that is height restricted (meaning no big kids ruining the fun for the little ones), short slide perfect for young kids and two hottubs.

CBR rooms are also a tad larger.

So while POR is my favorite, I think saving $200 is a winner and I also think your kids will love CBR.

We loved it when we stayed there and I know we'll go back someday!

I have to totally agree with the PP on this. We really like CBR and I think your little ones will love the pool, splash pad and the play area. We love the way the buildings are grouped into villages around courtyards, and think the landscaping is amongst the best in all of WDW.

Thanks for the input, I'm leaning towards switching to CBR. I'm the only one who will miss POR, DH has never been there and the girls will love CBR...

CBR is the only mod we've stayed at, so I can't compare it to POR, but we had a fabulous stay and loved the resort :goodvibes. I think your kids would love the new pool. If you do decide to switch, you could always keep checking to see if a room at POR opens up, but I do agree with the others that CBR is a great resort and I think your family will love it :).

I also meant to add last night that I wouldn't worry about reviews on Tripadvisor and allears. I love both sites but Tripadvisor in particular is sort of useless to me when it comes to WDW resorts. Many ppl on TA are deal lovers and lets face it, WDW resorts are not always seen as a great "value". I also notice that many people go on about how large WDW resorts are. I think non disboarders/non Disney regulars probably are shocked and sometimes surprised at the size of WDW resorts (I mean POFQ is considered compact by disboarders but it still has 7 buildings and 1000 rooms) because they didn't do enough research.

I love using Tripadvisor when I travel to big cities I am not familiar with since it helps point me away from areas I might not want to stay in.

For WDW, I rely on the disboards and there are plenty of CBR lovers on this board!

We're going to be at POR the same exact time .... I've stayed at both and personally didn't care for CBR .... It's not a bad resort or anything, just not my kinda theme. Since I live in a sand and palm tree filled climate the lushness and greenery of POR is more appealing.

After staying in both, I prefer CBR. There is absolutely nothing "wrong" with POR, it's just I like the theme of CBR better. So for saving $200, I would definitely recommend CBR. :cool1:

We have reservations for June to stay at CBR with a pin code discount. It was the same situation. I wanted POR but could not get our dates. We had to pick from POFQ or CBR (wasn't interested in CSR). We stayed at CBR in 2007 when our DS was 6 yrs old & we loved it. So we are going back to CBR this summer. Our DS is now 11 & we thought the pool at CBR would be best because POFQ's pool is nice but the slide is more for the 7 & under age group. We are planning on enjoying pool time because we are visiting during the summer season.
Very excited to stay at CBR again:wizard: We live in Pittsburgh so we love the tropical theme, as I sit here & type this there is about 3 inches of snow outside so of course CBR looks awesome right now:laughing:

Ah, my two favorite mods. We loved them both. I would go with CBR to save the money. :)
Like others have mentioned, great pool at CBR, and I love the tropical theming (and also love the theming at POR). DGS was 10 yrs old when we stayed and CBR and he loved the pool and even the food court.
Have fun!

We have stayed at both and we would choose CBR over POR. The rooms were larger and the pool was nicer. Food court was about the same. We prefer the theme of CBR over POR.

We have stayed at CBR twice with our kids. Last time they were 21 months and 4 years. Every time we have loved it and will be staying there again this May. (Kids will be 4 and 7.) I say save the money and give CBR a try.
