Obviously God was in the middle of experimenting with PMS when he/she invented blood sucking insects.

Must have been a bad day in the big bang...

Butterflies were obviously created the same day as sweet baby smell, chocolate, and music...

Good luck to your DH. I hope a quick visit to the doctor gives him great relief. Also, thanks for the reminder (unfortunately at your misfortune), to bring lotion with deet for upcoming trip.

We just returned from OKW 6/4 - 6/7. The first night (building 19) we sat on our balcony looking at the golfers coming by. My son and I both had our feet ate up by some type of bug, too. The only thing I remember seeing were these small black mosquito type bugs. I think they might be no-see-ums? Anyway - we're from Florida and it was some type of flying bug - not an ant.

My son's one foot swelled completely up. We're just now feeling like the itching is stopping. Next time - we'll be taking bug spray to sit on the balcony. The trip was fab - this was the only wierd thing that happened - it did not detract from our vacation (we had just finished up the cruise).

My advice, if you're balcony faces foliage, take bugspray.

Several years ago, DD (an infant then) and I sat on the balcony and got bit on our lower legs. It was extremely itchy and the marks didn't fade for a few months. We often sit on the balcony at OKW and couldn't figure what was different...until we realized we were on the ground floor and the sprinklers went on during the time we were sitting out. Our theory was maybe the water on the plants caused the bugs to jump off and our legs were conveniently nearby!!!!

Two years ago while at Magic Kingdom at night, I felt myself getting bit but only once or twice on the arms. It was only while in Frontierland by the Runaway Train. My niece also got bit. The next day, it looked liked little tiny red bumps but my forearms arms were covered. My niece looked similar. Very itchy. They took a few days to disappear.

Now I carry the bug wipes they sell. They come in the foil packets so it is easy to keep in my bag in the parks.

Your husband's bites do sound like red ants because they actually get a whitehead on the bite but I don't remember if they ooze and he defintely would have felt those biting. That hurts.

If you have tried over the counter remedies like benedryl and things of that sort, I would set a deadline for a doctor visit if there is no improvement.
Hope it is better soon. :wizard:

Having just done this to myself, I thought I'd ask, is it possible he walked through some poison ivy?

The swelling, weeping and itching sound *exactly* like poison ivy, which aslo starts as round, bug bite looking bumps-at least it did on my behind, because somehow I managed to SIT in it while weeding my garden-aaarrrgh!

Two weeks ago I was bitten by fire ants. I normally have a severe and immediate reaction to any type of bug bite, but this was different. I knew what got me because I saw them, brushed them off and rinsed my ankles with cool water. I thought these are the fire ants I've been warned about, hey, no big deal. If I had been more occuppied when it happened I might not have even known I was bitten. They didn't bother me at all until about 18 hours later. The itching was so bad it woke me up. This continued for about a week. And it does look something like poison ivy. Rubbing alcohol helped.
