Hello!! I normally stay onsite deluxe, but the purpose of this trip is a little different and I feel staying onsite would not only be expensive, but distracting. I'm apartment hunting, checking out my options for where my job can transfer me, and trying to do so extremely economically. I'll be traveling alone so safety is important. Through searches and availability, I have it down to Buena Vista Suites and Mystic Dunes. If anyone has thoughts or photos, it would be more than helpful! I have gone through some of the posts, but would like to compare the two. I will have a rental car, and plan to visit Disney parks at night and on Sunday for a few hours (I have an AP).

Here are a few of my notes:

June 21-26
BVS: $636 free hot breakfast, free parking, no washer/dryer, pay for internet
MDR: $425 pay for internet, and not sure about parking--but there is a washer/dryer

Thanks!

I'm checking into Mystic Dunes on Saturday so I'll let you know how it seems there after that. Also, not sure where you are getting your MD's rate, but make sure that you check under their website, and not Diamond's website, under 'save more' or specials or something like that. I found a much cheaper rate that wasn't under their main reservation page.

Thanks!! Have a great time!! I look forward to what you have to say!!!

We stayed at MD last June and while we had a decent stay, there were tiny ants in the front part of our 2 bedroom suite (built on a sand pile).
The rooms are HUGE and they washer and dryer are SO nice. The kitchen and dining room were perfect. Lots of space for the kids to "get away" from each other. ;) The property is very large and beautiful too. We used the pools one afternoon and had a great time, but there are also courts and other rentals on site. And I don't believe there was any charges at all for parking.
Anyway, we complained about the ants and ended up getting 2 free nights, so we are trying it again this year. Hope they've taken care of the problem!
Best of luck to you.

MD is down 545 -old lake wilson road - it is having major stuff done to it.

so would go with buena vista suites

tell me what you find - there are some places that I am looking for a house but they are not that close to WDW.

I did end up going with Mystic Dunes. The 2 major reasons were price, and the washer and dryer. In a perfect world, I would be booked at the Yacht Club-Club Level, but I just came back from there last month, and this is sudden and on a budget. The price difference between the 2 could go into moving expenses, and I only want to take a carry-on and save $50 on luggage fees. So MD came out the winner, and I think it'll be good. If it's not great--you'll all hear about it! (and if it's good you'll hear about it too, lol)

I'm at BVS right now, just for the night before we fly out tomorrow. It is decent, convenient and easy. There are laundry facilities on the 2nd and 4th floor, FYI. We met a couple at Biergaeten who were raving about MD, they stayed there 1 night. To me it sounded like much roomier accommodations. BVS is very small for us after 11 nts in a 2 BR villa.

Lucky you on the possible job relocation! We have been considering the very thing and checked out the Haines area as a possibility.

We have stayed at Mystic Dunes many times including last March and December. It compares very well with the other resorts we've stayed in, such as Bonnet Creek and Vistana.

My one complaint in December was a shortage of luggage racks, but when we were there in March they were abundant.

Well, I am here at Mystic Dunes and so far, so good. The check-in was quick and pleasant. I paid for a standard 1 bedrm on their website and was upgraded automatically to a standard 2 bedroom. The unit is clean and nice. There are a few lightbulbs out and a torn spot on the leather section couch, but everything else is good. The unit is huge! The finishes are not as nice as I have had at Wyndham Bonnet Creek or Cypress Palms, but they are nice enough for me. I am in building 20 and am overlooking a bit of the golf course and also the undeveloped grounds. It feels very private and quiet. Don't worry about the road work going on, it hasn't been an issue. If you have any specific questions, just let me know and I'll to help.
