It's REALLY stupid but I have a hard time making decisions sometimes :rolleyes2 . I have a Kodak Easyshare CX7330 3.1MP that was my first digital camera. It has served me well and actually takes good pics for what I was using it for (vacations). I have dropped it and the opening over the battery place has broken. It' still on at the hinges but I can't "snap it" closed. I can hold it closed with tape :lmao: . I'm leaving on June 6th for our first trip ever to WDW with my DS6 and exMIL. Should I dip into my vacation fund for a new camera or take my chances with the tape job? I know this is really a weird question but in my world, the choice would be to take a chance and save money. If yall say new camera, what kind would do for me? I like using the online kodak gallery photo place that came with my camera. If I was to change brands, would I still be able to use it or would I have to change sites? I really don't want to spend over $200 due to it being in my vacation fund (single mom, blah blah blah). I'm going to try to post a pic taken last year at Cozumel before all the hurricanes so maybe it'll help yall in my decision :teeth: .

well crap. I can't figure out how to post the pic. Anyway, all of your input would be appreciated.

If the only problem is the battery door does not stay clipped shut then run the tape! THey do it on 200mph nascar cars. How fast will you be going on you trip? The only problem I could see is the tape getting old and slipping. Bring some extra. Some tape glues will get loose the warmer they get. Especialy in direct sunlight. Get a talking Mickey instead! (and lots of batteries)
You can check into replacing just the door, but repairs can be costly on tiny little things like these, compared to the original price. sometimes 1/3 the original price for a silly little battery door replacement. CHeck to see if it is under warranty. Manufacturer, store or even credit card purchase!

Seriously, if you're happy with the camera, don't bother even fixing the door, just use tape and bring a roll of Scotch tape with you... and maybe a bottle of Scotch too :)

Use some elctrician's electrical tape (not just in black anymore). It will hold better than packaging tape and won't gum in the sun like DUCT tape....provided the camera is working just fine.

We had the same problem with our first digitals (also Kodaks, but 1-megapixels)... we were living in Canada at the time and had easy access to hockey tape (black - it matched the camera very well.) Worked very well :thumbsup2 and was more comfortable to our hands than any other tape.

Now that we're in Indiana, we have a bit more trouble finding hockey tape :rotfl2: (glad we've upgraded cameras twice since then, and the Kodaks have become the girls' cameras... and they don't use them very often!) In a pinch, we'd probably use the electrician's tape, too.

Good luck, and have a great trip!

Sandy (and Brian, Bonnie & Kellie, too!)

The same thing happened to my first digital camera! I walked around WDW for about 1 year with the battery door taped shut until it wound up with other issues! I loved the camera and at the time could not afford to replace it! I just made sure I had extra tape in my bag in case I had to change batteries (it was an HP and it did go through the batteries!!!)
