Please help a newbie with ADRs.

I have never made ADR's for our trips. Actually, I never used PS's either. On our last trip, we missed a couple of restaurants that we would have liked to have tried due to not have PS's. I plan to make some this year. Based on what I have read, I can make the ADR's 180 days in advance. Is this from the check in date, the check out date, or the date of the meal? Also, can anyone tell me where I could find hours for the restaurants? I hope to make an ADR in the world showcase as late as possible to catch Illuminations. I don't need to see the show from the table, but I want to finish dinner in time to catch the show, if that makes sense. And, for those of you who have used ADR's, how long do you typically wait when you show up for your ADR? Any help that anyone can offer will be greatly appreciated.

I know there is a date calculator on allears.net in the dining area and I firmed that date up by calling disney.

If you are staying at a Disney resort you can book all your ADRs 180 days from your CHECK-IN date. The CM at Disney Dining can tell you what the latest available dining time would be. Definitely make ADRs, especially with the free dining or you probably will miss out on a lot of good places.

Maybe we've been lucky but the longest we've waited with the ADR was 15 minutes at Ohana.
