My family has been going to Disney forever, but our next visit will be our first time using the Dining Plan. We are paying for it, four adults, so I want to be sure I am understanding some things correctly. First, my family is not big into soda. Can we get bottled water at the counter service and sit down meals instead of a fountain drink? Also, does a salad (my daughter loves ceasar salads) count as an appetizer at dinner? And in regards to the snack, am I understanding that you can get anything under $4, like two cookies, etc. or are we restricted. I hope I'm not asking too much, but if anyone can help with these questions I would be very thankful.

Thanks!!!
Mim

You can get water for your drink, we did it several times. Enjoy the dining plan it is great :sunny:

Per the sticky Thread at the top of this thread
For each night of your package, the Disney Dining Plan includes the following meals for each Guest in your
o One (1) Table-Service Meal
Includes appetizer, entree, dessert or full buffet and non-alcoholic beverage as well as gratuity (children ages 3-9 must choose from the children's menu if available; appetizer & dessert not available at breakfast but juice is
o One (1) Counter-Service Meal
Includes entree, dessert or one complete combo meal, and non-alcoholic beverage (children ages 3-9 must choose from the children's menu if available)** dessert not available at breakfast
o One (1) Snack
What Can You Get With Snack Credits?
As of May 2006, Disney has expanded the items available with Dining Plan snack credits. Disney is now generally defining a "snack" on the Disney Dining Plan be an item under $4 (pre-tax), edible, non-alcoholic, non-merchandise and non-souvenir. Some items such as pizza slices are excluded.

Snacks can be redeemed at quick service or snack cart locations only. Quick-service and snack cart locations display a "dining plan" logo on their menus indicating items for which you can use your snack credits.

Among the items now available with Dining Plan snack credits:

ice cream novelty
frozen fruit bar
box of popcorn
12 oz soft drink
20 oz Powerade
24 oz bottle of water
piece of fruit
bottled fruit juice
flavored milk
snack-sized bag of chips
ice cream sundaes
ice cream floats
smoothies
nachos
bakery items
Mickey rice krispy treats

indigoxtreme, thanks! I'm glad to know that bottled water is an option with our meals. I think my family will really enjoy the Dining Plan. It will be a great excuse for me to get my Mickey Ice Cream Bar! LOL!!

Thanks!

Just to clarify, if cookies are $1.69 yo do not get 2 so they add up to under $4.00. You just get one snack so 1 cookie. In case that is what you were thinking, I wouldn't want you to deplete your credits too quickly !

Also, FYI, we got chocolate milk instead of sodas at each of the CS places for our kids while on the DP.

Thanks you Grethgraham and patsal. I had a busy weekend and was not able to get on the Disboards. Your answers helped in understanding the Dining Plan. Yes my daughter was thinking maybe she could get 2 cookies (patsal you must be a mind reader!) and save one for later, but this will not work for her! My whole family is really excited about this plan. We normally don't eat this much so we're all laughing about all the food! Should be a great time! Thanks again.

It is really a great plan, we will be doing our 3rd time this sept. There is so much food, you are right. We would get our deserts with our lunch CR's and take them back to the room. We also were able to get fresh fruit as a desert. Many CR's have a fruit bowl you can get instead of cake etc. We did this a lot and had fruit during the day. :sunny:
