Hi!

:wave2:

It's getting close to time to make our ADRs and we've been really excited to try La Hacienda for the first time. There are four of us traveling, with 3 on DDP. DD will be 2 on our trip and also doesn't eat any food by mouth due to preemie complications; DS will be 18 at the time of our trip but has Autism and is a VERY picky eater. DS loves Mexican food and has had the tacos for Cantina de San Angel before - he justs gets them with only meat and tortillas. We were hoping to get dinner ADRs for La Hacienda, but there's nothing on the menu that DS would eat.

Here's the question: Could we make the ADR for 4 and only have 2 of us order from the menu (using only 2 TS credits) and have DS eat somewhere right before? (We'd have a later ADR for Illuminations viewing, and he doesn't mind eating separately.)

OR

Could we make ADRs for the fam of 4, have 2 adults order from the menu (using 2 TS credits), and have DS order from La Cantina outside and bring it in (I'm guessing not) since they are essentially the same restaurant?

I'm hoping at least the first option will be acceptable, since most non-buffets and non-family style restaurants allow 2 adults to share a meal using 1 TS credit.

Anyone have any insight? It's tough because DS is happy with adult sized portions, and eats a lot more than he used to, but still likes his food VERY plain - no garnish, sauces, cheese, etc.

TIA

I'd go with option number 1 and just order him a drink there, maybe dessert if there is something there he would like. On the other hand, if you call the restaurant directly the week before your adr and speak with a chef he/she may be able to make the plain tacos your son likes. We've called the week before and had different entrees made many times for my vegan sister.

Also, my mom is very picky and likes her food very plain, no cheese, etc., and it's never been a problem to order something special order for her while there. It's easy to leave things off and if you go through the menu and see things he would like they can mix and match and put things together from the ingredients you see on listed.

What they said.

Plus, you can always order fewer meals than people on the plan, except at buffets, dinner shows, etc. Do, however, make your ADRs for the number of people to be seated.

We just ate there the other night, and the food was great!

The only thing better than the food was the SERVICE!! Everyone was bending over backwards to make sure everything was great. The manager came over to tell us it was a new restaurant, and that if there was anything he could do for us, let him know. When we left, all of the servers were waving and saying goodbye to our DS, and calling him by name, etc.

Assuming the service stays top notch, like it is right now, I can't imagine it would be a problem to order plain tacos the way your DS likes them, or even an "adult portion" of on the items on the kids menu. They are there to please the guests!

I can't stress enough that it was the best service of any Disney restaurant I've ever been too!

So glad to hear that the service was great in addition to the food! That is always the complaint that I hear about San Angel Inn. We did it once - never again. Looking forward to La Hacienda next visit!
