Please give me your CS recommendations

We are going out on our first trip to WDW in a little over 2 weeks and I have been so busy making my ADRs that I never even thought about what CS places might interest me. I keep hearing people say there are a lot of good ones but I have never heard any mentioned by name.

What are your favorites?

We will be park hopping but spending a lot of our 5 days at MK since we have 3 little ones to make happy. In case that helps.

We've been to WDW 11 times in the last 9 years and our 12th trip is coming up in just 20 days! Each trip has lasted 10 days so we've had the opportunity to eat at lots of counter service restaurants.

The following are our favorites:

Magic Kingdom:

Pecos Bills: Has a wonderful fixin's bar with all the regular hamburger toppings as well as sauteed mushrooms and onions. Other options are wraps, salads, hot dogs, etc. Lots of indoor and some outdoor seating.

Cosmic Rays: The restaurant has lots of indoor seating. There is an alien that plays the piano and sings too. The half chicken and veggies are enough for two. They also have soups, wraps, etc.

Pinocchio's Village Haus: They have an Italian type menu. The Figaro Fries are delicious. Some seating overlooks It's A Small World.


Epcot:

All of the countries have counter service menus. Our favorites are the burritos in Mexico, orange chicken in China and chicken terriyaki in Japan. If you want more traditional American food, go to the Electric Umbrella. They have the typical burgers, chicken, pizzas, wraps, etc.


MGM Studios:

Toy Story Pizza Planet has some great meal deals which include pizza and salads. The kids really love this restaurant. It's like a large arcade (price not included in the meal so bring along some extra $) with the Little Green Men hanging from the ceiling. Outside, you will see Woody and Slinky Dog peering down over the rooftop.

Backlot Express: Typical American food, burgers, chicken strips, etc. There are both indoor and outdoor seating at the restaurant.


Animal Kingdom:

Flame Tree BBQ is wonderful! We have ordered everything on the menu and it's all been great. The bbq sauce is served on the side. Sides include corn on the cob and baked beans. Seating is outdoors but it is under shade.

Pizzafari is a cool restaurant. There are tons of hidden Mickeys painted on the walls. The food includes pizza, italian sandwiches, salads, bread sticks, etc.

I see that it's your first trip to WDW! It's exciting isn't it. I have written a guidebook of my own and have passed it along to lots of friends, family and other Disboard members. At MK.... of course there is Casey's for hot dogs!! and Coumbia House is great! and Pecos Bills in Frontier land.
At MGM we like Pizza Planet, Catalina Eddies and Rosie's All American...they all have the usual burgers, pizza, chicken fingers.... kids will love it.
AK... Flame Tree Bar B Q has great barbecue. Pizzafari...same pizza as at Pizza Planet. And there are a couple stands you can pick up McDonald's fries!!
Epcot has lots of places all around the World Showcase. The kids might go for Electric Umbrella.... basic burgers. Then the food court at the Land pavilion has a little bit of everything. We like to hit that for a quick breakfast or snack.

OK here are my Fav's

MK-Columbia Harbour House---Love this place Great Tuna Sandwhich and clam chowder

Downtown Disney - Wolfgang Puck Express - Great roasted chicken and potato's

Downtown Disney - Cookes of Dublin - Fish and chips!

AK-Tusker House

those are my favorites. I would suggest checking out the menu's and have an idea of what places offer then when it is time to eat see what everyone feels like then you will know who has it.

Here are my favorites:

MK - Columbia Harbour House - for the Lighthouse Sandwich and sitting upstairs and watching the street below

Epcot - Tangerine Cafe in Morrocco - very exotic

AK - Tusker House - really good food and great atmosphere

I'm sorry I can't help ya' with MGM. I really don't have a preference.

WE just got back from our first visit....we had the BEST time and I hope your trip goes as well!

I can tell you where we ate for CS. At MGM we ate at the ABC Commissary. I wouldn't recommend it. It wasn't horrible, but the food was mediocre and the CM was not flexible about drinks or sides with the kids DDP.

At MK we ate at Cosmic Ray's which was excellent. Large selection and very cool toppings bar for burgers, etc. Plus, the kids could get cookies for dessert. ALOT of food...more than we could finish.

At AK we had dinner at Flame Tree. Also excellent. The ribs were very good and my husband enjoyed his half chicken. The kids could also get cookies here.

At Epcot, we had Tangierine Cafe for my DH and I. If you like mediterranean food, it was delicious and the portions were huge. Plus...you can get baklava for dessert...my favorite! The kids ate at Liberty Inn at the American pavillion. They got chicken nuggets and fries and a chocolate chip cookie. My DS12 got the double bacon cheeseburger and thoroughly enjoyed it! We also ate at Sommerfest. There is no kids menu there so the kids got to enjoy the same food we did. The brats were awesome as were the GIANT pretzels and Black Forest Cake.

I, like you, put more thought into TS and only had a few suggested CS places I wanted to try. The only choice I would have changed was ABC Commissary.

My DH loves the tuna sandwich at CHH. My favorite here is the Fish.
Pecos bill's and cosmic rays are family favorites. Usually the resorts have pretty good CS. Pop food court is awesome.

We haven't had CS since our trip in 99; DH got us the premium pkg when we went in Jan. All the TS was wonderful but it was so much food....) I've been looking at the Cs menus for our upcoming trip with 11 family members and had most of these places on our list. I'm glad to see an endoresment of everything I've picked out so far!

Thank you for all your replies. I am going to go check out the menus now. I really needed a starting off point and I see there are several places recommended by more than one person so I will be very eager to check those out.
Maybe I should extend my trip so that I can eat everywhere I want to

MK: Growing up my family always ate at Columbia Harbour House. I always love going there. This past trip my boyfriend and I tried Pecos Bill's. The cheeseburgers are so good there. But what will bring me back there over and over again is the Peanut Butter Moose (sp?) Brownie. YUMMMMMMMMM! (These are the only places I have ate in the Magic Kingdom.)
Epcot: As for Future World I love Seasons. They have something for everyone there and so many desserts to choose from. As for World Showcase I love Tangeriene Cafe. It's a bit exotic, but so good.
DS: This place is lacking when it comes to counter service. We generally eat at Backlot Express which serves your ordinary fast food. It's nice there, kinda outta the way and so it's generally not busy. We tried Pizza Planet. It is a great atmosphere but the pizza is so-so.
AK: I have only ate one place here, Tusker House. And it is so good. We have yet to order anything that isn't amazing.
DTD: I have to say that Wolfgang Puck Express is faboulus. I will never eat there again unfortunately (it's a long story... but to make it short we drove to Hoboken to have some and the place was closed for redecoration).

I wanted to add a few that hadn't been mentioned:

Boulangerie Patisserrie in France (Epcot) - they have a really good turkey sandwich on a LONG roll, a ham & cheese croissant, a fruit and cheese plate, and ALL THOSE DELICIOUS FRENCH PASTRIES!! You can get 2 items plus a drink for a CS credit if you're on the dining plan.

Main Street Bakery (Magic Kingdom) - great for breakfast - they have all sorts of pastries, cinnamon rolls, french toast loaf, etc. And you get 2 items plus a drink for a CS credit on the dining plan.

My family may not be normal but they love just plain rice & chicken with sauces. They enjoy the Noodle station in MK & the Japanese CS place in Epcot. In MGM we like Toy Story. In AK we like Flame Tree BBQ. We get our food & sit next to the water. Oh, we also like the CS place in Mexico. It's so nice to sit next to water, isn't it?

Anyway, if your kids like things other than chicken nuggets these are our faves. We like th Cosmic Rays too.

That is good to know. Me and the girls could split that and make a good breakfast for the 4 of us out of it. (they don't eat much)

We are staying at the Wilderness Lodge. But I hope to have some time to scope out some of the other resorts for next year.

I have to say that DH and I agree that Cosmic Ray's smells funny to us, it is like dirty plastic (like the playplaces at MC Donalds when they need to be cleaned).

I have never been but I am more than happy to share what CS look good to me:


MK- Villiage Haus, Cosmic Ray's, Casey's Corner, El Pirata (if it's still open), and Columbia Harbour House.

EPCOT- Yakitori House, Sunshine Seasons, Liberty Inn, Cantina de San Angel, and Boulangerie Patisserie.

AK- Flame Tree BBQ and Restaurantosaurus,

MGM- Pizza Planet, Flatbread Grill, and Catalina Eddie's.

DTD- WPExpress and Cooke's Dublin.

My family enjoyed Cosmic Rays -- although the multiple lines for food can be a bit of a hassle. We really liked the toppings/condiment bar thingie.

At Epcot there are tons of choices in World Showcase. In my hometown there is really good Chinese food, along with Mexican, Italian and Japanese so I tend to avoid those in Disney. Counter service in Morocco was really good. The food court in the Land was lots of choices -- we had a good meal there too.

In MK we love pecos bill very good burgers and a topping bar. For desert they ahve this pB mouse that is awesome.
