Please give me some tips for overcoming motion sickness

We (family of 4, DH, DS8, DS5) leave for WDW Monday morning and I'm so paranoid that I'm not going to be able to ride the rides with my boys. The last amusement park I went to I was sick as a dog before we left that day and I don't want to spoil the week for them or myself So if you have any suggestions that work let me know

If the over the counter medications such as Dramamine don't work, then you can try asking your doctor to prescribe you something.
I get air sick easily, so my doctor prescribed Lorazepam. I also took one each day before we left for the parks. It kept me from being sick on the rides.

I suffer from motion sickness. What I do is take 1 Dramamine II or 1 Bonine (they both have the same ingredient) at night before going to bed. They are non-drowsy & last for 24 hours. By doing this I am able to ride almost everything. Can't do the teacups or the virtual reality stuff in Disney Quest and have not tried Mission Space. Everything else I do ok with.

There is also a new medication I don't recall the name, but it comes in patch form you affix the patch right behind your ear on your jugular vein. They worked great for me on a fishing trip that used to make me sick as a dog, I can't take dramamaine as it makes me loopey and soon puts me to sleep but this patch did the trick, it was great. GOOD luck. We will ask Tink to shower you in pixie dust, that should boost the patches effectiveness !!!

The patch is called Scopeamine,(sp?), I have used it my last two trips. It works for 72 hours. I rode everything, and rode in the car for the 2000 mile round trip, and NEVER got sick! I usually get sick after 30 mins. in a car, since I was 6 yrs. old, now 42. It is a script from your doctor. It made my whole trip stressfree for me, cause I'm always worried about getting sick and ruining the trip. No side effects for me. Good Luck. (At the end of the dose, you just put another patch behind the opposite ear. It is also waterproof.)

I take the sea bands, and the ginger capsules..they worked for me even on MS.

But I will be using bonine this year along with DH, I used it n my DCL cruise ad it worked wonders!

Try Gravol, Dramamine, or Bonine. Sea Bands and herbal remedies can be unreliable.

There were these things called Preggie Pops made out of candied ginger that work really well (because they help expectant mothers over morning sickness) and they have ginger Altoids (which I don't know would help, though!). Don't want you getting on your vacation!

I get really bad motion sickness and I use Sea Bands. They really help me. But on rides such as Space Mountain, don't sit in the front seat because I've found that I feel sick if I do.

I get moderate to severe motion sickness and have since I was a kid. Dramamine or Bonine-or the generic equivalant off them-work pretty well. You need to take these and hour or so before the motion starts for them to be most effective. Presciption wise there is Scopolamine, the patch, which works for up to 3 days I believe. I'd start with the over the counter medicines first. Lorezpam which another posted mentioned is an antianxiety drug by class and is not indicated for motion sickness. Disney isn't bad for motion sickness. The worst for me our Star Tours, Body Wars, Teacups, Primeval Whirl and Mission Space. Body Wars was the worst offender before I tried Mission Space. I would seriously consider skipping MS if your motion sickness is bad. Bring medicine with you into the park each day so you have it if you need it. If you're having a bad day try stopping in First Aid, they can give you something which may help. And remember the good news, most rides at WDW will NOT make you sick!
