Hi :wave2:
My daughter will be 7 at the time of our trip (in March) and we have decided to splurge for BBB. I know most of what will happen but was wondering if anyone who has taken their princess there can give me more details.

We are doing the cheapest package (not cheap at $60, yowza lol) and we plan to bring our own princess dress.

How long does it take once they are in the chair? That's my main question. I'm just trying to see if it's something my husband will need to fill time for my 4yo son--like take him on rides, or go snatch fast passes while we wait, or if he should be there the whole time not to miss her transformation.

Any info (and pics if you care to share) are appreciated! I plan to call and make the reservation tomorrow.
Oh, also...we can call 60 days out, would they know the park opening time for that day, even though the hours aren't posted online yet? I was hoping to knock out the Fantasyland rides before going to BBB but without knowing park opening that would be trickier to plan.

Anyway, thank you for any help and info :thumbsup2

We've done it twice with our daughter - she was 3 the first time and 5 the second. The whole thing was somewhere between an hour and an hour and fifteen minutes - my husband took our son (2 years younger) to do other things. However, we did the castle package so we could skip the line for the royal hall, and picking the dress/photos at the end/etc took some of that time. From the time she's taken back to the dressing room to get dressed, to the time her hair is done and you pay, is probably 30-40 minutes. A lot is super dependent on how busy it is - they may check you in but you have to hang around with a pager for a while before you actually get in. So all that said, there is limited room for watching, and if your son is squirrelly you might want to plan on your husband going and doing a couple fast rides with him and then coming back.

Also, yes, they'll know the hours and let you know availability :) I would plan for earlier in your trip, and earlier in the day, if she's interested in meeting princesses all dressed up. The hair has...a lot of gel, and will stay throughout your trip, so you might as well get your money's worth :)

Good to know, thank you!

This is what happened with myself and my daughter in December 2016:
*did "Extra Magic Hour" and was able to get all the rides done easily and time for a quick churro:)
*Checked in just past Snow White ride about 15 min before her time. Here you will pick your daughters hair style (3 choices/extensions/colors etc), what dress to pick/size: they will have samples of what to pick from there . We had a 8:50 appointment. Waited for about 10 min or so then a "Fairy Godmother In Training" came to get my daughter.
*I booked the biggest package: I liked all the extra perks: esp getting to meet all the Princess right away: no waiting in line. The Princess are usually Snow White, Cinderella, Ariel
, and Arora: a combination of any 3.
*Changing into her dress, hair, makeup, nails, "crown", face jewels and lots of Pixie dust took about 20-30 min total. They are pretty quick.
*Pictures were done with some woodland creatures and Pumpkin carriage. Lovely photo album that we were given.
*After pictures then you Princess is taken to meet the Princesses; as mentioned above.

I have done this twice with my daughter: I love it, she LOVED it!! If you send your son and husband away for about 1hr: you should be done. I hope you do this and have a wonderful time. I'm 45 years old with a boy and girl: and my fondest memories are of Disneyland when I was a kid. This will be something she will remember forever. Also, LOTS of little girls came dressing in their "Princess" dresses: and just did hair/makeup etc. Like I say; it's just money!!

Have a great time and take lots of pictures!!!

We did this for DD when she was not-quite 5 (2013). We did the $60 package, also. It took about ten minutes to get her a FGiT, and, from that point, took about 40 minutes. She was already wearing her princess dress. We're going with a friend and her daughter in March and doing it again - I'll be interested in seeing how the experience has changed.

We will be there in March also! Thanks for the info from your experience! It's helpful.

Aww that sounds so special! And I definitely want it to be something she looks back on with great memories! Which is honestly why we splurge for this stuff to begin with, right?

So since we are bringing her princess dress, would it be easier if she was already wearing it, or would it be more magical for her to have it be a part of the makeover process?

We did this for my 4 year old this past October. We had reservations. When we got there, it was a 20 min wait with the reservation- no biggie to me but they gave me a nice discount for the "inconvenience". From the time she got in the chair, the hair, make up, and nails took 30 minutes. We had our own dress. Honestly it was worth every penny. They did an amazing job, she was so happy, and the hair lasted through the next day. You get to keep all the products they used. I will do this for my daughter again and eventually for my younger daughter when she's of age.

Sorry read the last part... I don't think you need to buy the dress. The dress we had was far better quality than the one bought there and for half the price. My daughter didn't even notice that others could get a dress there

Oh I don't plan to buy one there. I meant if we should have her wear the one we are bringing ahead of time or bring it with us to the appointment so she can change into it there for it to be special

Could you do the Knight package for your son while your daughter does a Princess one?

I'm not sure: you could ask, most of the little girls changing got the dress there. The girls who brought their wore dresses were already wearing them. I would go into BBB about 15+ minutes early and ask all these questions: see what can be done etc. The cast members on the phone are wonderful, but may not know specific details.

I'd have her wear the dress to the BBB for a few reasons: if it's going over her head, it's easier if you're not worried about the hair; when you take pictures of the finished product still in the chair, she'll be in the dress rather than street clothes; and if she's already wearing the dress, you don't have to carry her clothes.

We are planning on getting the one week photopass. Is it extra to get a photopass photographer to take the photos at BBB (on top of the photopass package)? Or would this be included in the main photopass package? Will they have a photopass photographer there already? I'd like to get photographs of my DD for this but I want something better than my iPhone.

I'm not sure; I have done the "Castle Package": where PhotoPass service is included. This PhotoPass service isn't listed as an option for the other 2 packages. When you look up where the PhotoPass photographers are on the App: BBB isn't showing. The photographer at BBB is dressed in character for the BBB: wasn't wearing the "normal" photographer uniform. I'm SURE they will take your pictures: the question is will you be able to link that to your PhotoPass: or will you need to buy these specific pictures separate. Again, if you book the "Castle Package" you don't need to worry it's included. If you are wanting pictures while she is getting "dolled" up: this is all on you. The only time, that I've seen the DL photographers taking pictures is in a separate little room with some woodland creatures and Cinderella's pumpkin carriage. I found myself just watching and didn't take too many pictures: but you phone will be great: some of our best pictures of our trip are from my DH phone!!

When we did it (with the old Photopass+ in 2013), there were PP photographers taking pictures of the entire process for everyone who wanted it, but I don't know if they still do that. I have a Signature AP now, so it would be great if they did!

Could you do the Knight package for your son while your daughter does a Princess one?
I considered it but it's not really his thing. He is a HUGE Star Wars fan so our splurge for him will be to build his own light saber. Thanks for the suggestion though!

Yeah I suppose it would be helpful to ask huh haha. I do like hearing people's experiences also.

Good point! I sorta assumed they would have her change before they get her in the chair but I suppose it would just be easier to have her wear it to the park that morning. Thanks for your insight!

From what I've read, I assume they wouldn't be unless you booked the package but obviously that's just my assumption.

The only photo pass photographers I've seen are in the back room where they do the photo shoot for the castle package with the big carriage, etc. I haven't ever seen them out on the main floor.
