Please feel free to sympathize while I whine

Thanks, all! That was really all I needed... I feel much better today. I still have to finish the stinkin' invites, but there's only 20 left. And they're cute, so hey, what am I complaining about.

I am so curious, what series did you read?

It's Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series. It creates rabid fans, of which I am one. If you like historical, semi-fantasy (no vampires), very romantic, great big books, try this one -- the first book is called Outlander.

I'm sorry to hear you're so frustrated but keep in mind a new car would still be a lot more overall. That $900 is less than 2 months of dh's truck payments.

Hang in there! One day at a time. :grouphug:

The old car is the one the kids drive around - fortunately, Hondas hold their value -- if it had been worth the $900 any other model would have been at that age, I would have had no problem getting rid of it! But now it works well, and should last for a while more. So we have two paid-off cars, happy happy, and one that still has payments. I really would not have wanted to have another car payment.

So I'm now counting this weekend's blessings:
DFIL is doing better, and should be home this week.
DS20 has a job! Barista is better than nothing.
DS17 had a good time at prom, and looked very handsome.
I'll start my part-time, online seasonal job this week (in addition to my regular job, but the money is good).

And -- I have all of you!!!! Thanks again.

OP, I know how you are feeling. Last winter I had a series of events which drained our bank account and let me frustrated. Our stove broke two different times. Our van needed $700 worth of work, DD17 needed $400 for her A/P exams, we lost power in the blizzard for 4 days so the food spoiled and my daughter's fishes died. DD17 was supposed to leave for France and it was delayed two days.

At points I wanted to crawl under my blanket and not come out for a week.

I'm so sorry! I hope everyone recovered (well, except the fishes, that would have been weird). Did DD17 have a good time in France?

I am really sorry for all the troubles you are going through. I am also going through a very bad time so I know how you feel. It sucks when you go home every night and literally cry because life sucks.

Just keep pushing on and things will get better (at least that is what I am trying to convince myself of).

I think the universe is out of whack, because it is going around! In the last month:
Washer broke.
Truck wouldn't start, had it towed home. 3 days later, the car wouldn't start! We had to rent a car for a week while DH tore down and rebuilt the car- new distributor, CPS, belts, gaskets, spark plugs, wires, etc. Still working on the truck.
Then the motherboard on our main home PC fried.
And I got two root canals.

But there is light at the end of the tunnel. After a good cry, things started turning around.
I married a very handy man. He fixed the washer. Fixed the car. Is working on the truck when he can. I knew the computer wasn't acting right so I backed everything up a few months ago. My dentist put a permanent type temporary filling inside the second root canal until the new benefit year begins and i can afford the second crown and yesterday I could drink and eat without pain for the first time since Valentine's day!

I'm glad yours is turning around too!!

Yep, it's going around! It all startedt with a miscarriage at 6 weeks, followed by a termite invasion which had to be treated to the tune of $880. Then I scratched my eye during removal of a contact. And of course all of the other things: bills, car maintenance, etc. all happening at once. Urg...just gotta stay positive!
