I was offered a great deal on CBR $94 nite in Oct (8 nites) can't decide between this place and Hawthorn Suites. There u get free HOT breakfast and indoor corridors and quick exit/entry to hotel / to car.

we are renting a car and will not use dis. trans.

Will not be hotel unless sleeping or getting ready in am. (doubt it- we never have gone back to hotel in midday unless we had time to change b4 dinner)

so WHY and What makes CBR so appealing to adults???

We stayed at CBR back in 1997, before we had children. We went with some friends, and ended up getting two joining rooms.

I really did like CBR. The Carribbean theming is great.Lots of lush tropical foilage around, beautiful walkways and lighted paths that make it quite romantic at night.
The beach areas even have little private walkways and hammocks for lounging in to.

While this was our first Disney experience, we have since stayed at CSR, and have another visit coming up at WL.
I can tell you that The bus transportation was far superior at CSR.
But since you mentiond you'll not be using Disney trans. that may not be an issue for you.

The rooms were larger at CBR in comparison to CSR.

The KEY to a great stay at CBR is location.I would definitely pay for one of the preferred rooms if you can.
And you may want to visit the CBR resort thread here on the resorts board for more info regarding best locales.

The only thing I will say is that we always have our car with us yet we still always use Disney transportation. We have always found it so convenient. The only time we use the car is to go to another resort for dinner.

You may also find that if you do use Disney transportation you may be tempted to go back to the room midday.

Once my husband parks the car he likes to forget about it and let someone else do the driving. That's because he's done alot of driving from NY to FL.

I would always choose a Disney property over off site because a Disney resort really adds to the overall magic of your trip even after leaving the parks. That said, CBR is a wonderful place for couples--it is tropically themed and romantic. If you ask for Jamaica, it is a bit more quiet than being close to the main pool, and not a far walk to OPR. It is clean and beautiful. It has always been a favorite of me and DH and that is why we spilt our trip between BWI and CBR this year.

I thought I read that the rooms at CSR and CBR are almost the exact same size, but I could be wrong.

We stayed at CBR last year. We really enjoyed it and it was our first trip without kids. I will say that we were hoping for something a little quieter. There were kids everywhere (after all, it is Disney!!) But the grounds are beautiful. We stayed in Trinidad North, which we thought was a perfect location. We are trying CSR in September. Having stayed off site and on site, I don't think I will ever stay off site again!:sunny:

I always thought CBR would be a wonderful resort for a couple without kids (I've always been there with kids).

Some of the more remote villages have what look to be almost-private beaches. The Banana Cabana is a great place to have a drink with other adults. The private pools give you a chance to get away from the kids. At night, it's beautiful with the lights reflecting on the water. The tropical theme makes it romantic.

My only advice would be to have a car. :D

DH and I honeymooned at CBR in April and loved it! We were in Jamaica 42 and thought the location was great. We weren't too far from OPR or the bus stop. We didn't have a car so only used Disney transport but had no problems at all. Given the choice, I would always stay on property!

The rooms at CBR are larger than the other moderates. CBR is 340 sq. ft, the others 314.

As you can see, this is our fourth trip; we stayed at CBR for the first time on our honeymoon in May of 2000 and today, four years later withour kids (for the last time hopefully), we are heading back there for 7 nights with my DH's parents and then on to 3 nights at CSR (figured we would finally check out the other mods).

We love CBR because of the romantic tropical feel; you don't get that special Disney feel by staying off site and $94 a night in October is pretty good. We stayed in Jamaica 45 with a free upgrade to a corner room with a waterview; it was a 4 minute walk to the food court, a 2 minute walk to the bus stop and the view of the nearby fireworks from the hammocks on the beach is breathtaking. . . you won't be disappointed!!!

sounds nice - Question: HOW FAR are the beaches from the buildings?

How many beaches are there? Since it's a promo deal we have NO choice of the building or view.

How far is the beach ?

How far is the parking lot? (could be 2 far! ?)

Do you like exterior corridors vs quickly coming and going from the hotel??

At CBR, how often did you stay out at night and go to the beach??
 thnks!

Here's the map to give you an idea of the spread. It looks overwhelming but we actually stayed in Trinidad South and did not mind the walk to the Food area. Most people with kids like to stay as close to the Food Court it seems. Each area has a beach right on the side of the buildings...very close. We spent almost each night relaxing on the beach..usually by ourselves most of the time.

We went (my husband, 3 year old, and I) in July of this year and stayed at the CBR. What a wonderful place. The resort is absolutely beautiful. The parking was adequate and not very far from our room as each "island" has it's own parking lot. Each island also has its own beach. We were on the beach nearly every day and rarely was anyone else on the beach with us. Most people hung out by the pool instead which is just steps from the beach. We also hung out on the beach at night and let our son blow bubbles while we just relaxed and talked. The beach was what attracted me to the resort in the first place and is what is bringing me back next year! GO GO GO! You will have a wonderful time.

We just came back from CBR Thursday night. It was much more then we expected! We were put in Trinidad South and still did'nt mind the walk. There's so much to look at. We fed the ducks every morning, and had little bunnies crossing our path almost daily. We had young children so we came "home" early every night and laid on the hammocks at the beach and watched the fireworks(we could also see them perfectly from our room) while the kids played on the playground. The kids enjoyed the resort more then any park!:) I think for just adults you'll REALLY enjoy this resort! We can't wait to go back!!

One word
Hammocks

I find it so relaxing laying in the hammock!

We stayed at CBR last year after 3 miserable days at ASMo. We loved our CBR stay. We were in Barbados 15 with a water view. Beach a few steps one way, quiet pool a few steps another way.
We had our boys with us, but I can see it being wonderful for a couple with no kids along! Just think, lying in a hammock together, with a cool tropical drink. Ahhhhhh!

The pool bar had GREAT drinks and we loved walking towards the main pool and catching the fireworks from Illuminations. Plus, the quiet pools were wonderful at night!
