Have family coming on this trip and wondered if purchasing the photo packages might be a good idea. How are they put together? Where can the photos be taken? Thanks for any help you can provide.

Do you mean the pics that you have taken and put on Photo Pass? If so, they are taken a lot of places, but mostly in front of the Castle, SSE, Tree of Life, Mickey Hat at MGM and with characters. Lots of other places in the parks too, but you have to watch for them. You have them scan your card, your pics are then available to view when you get home. You can order them online. You can also have all of your pics put on a CD at the parks, maybe that's what you mean, for $99 I think. I ended up having 30 some pics taken, but I didn't know about the CD, or I would have bought it because I ended up spending about $70 just on the 6 or 7 that I ordered.

Usually we take our own pix but have heard a little about this program and wondered about it. How many pictures are you limited to on the photopass? Is there a cost for the entire amount? Sorry for the questions, this is one area of Disney I know very little about. :confused3

there are a few different ways to do photos in WDW. There is Disney's PhotoPass. With this you have photos taken of your group in various spots around WDW by the Disney photographers. You can have them taken at the park entrances, in front of the Castle, near attractions...all over the place. They are a bit expensive...maybe around $12 for a 5x7 if I remember correctly. You can get as many as you like.
There are also services you can use that will follow you around the parks for a specific period of time and take shots of you and your family in the parks...almost like candids. I believe that WDW does offer this, I just can't remember where I saw it. Perhaps someone else knows what it is I'm thinking about. But it is expensive. I would suggest that you have some group shots done by the Photopass people. They will give you a credit card size card that they then scan every time you have a photo done. then, you can review them at the end of the day in each park or wait until you get home and check them out on your computer and then order what you like. This is the only way there are any photos of me in WDW since I'm usually behind the camera!!!

Great I just used it for the first time last week, and I got about 20 pics and all came out great! :thumbsup2

Think you have answered my questions. So, I can wait til we get home, check them out online, order only the ones we want. Can i order smaller sizes for a scrapbook>? Can the pix we don't purchase be saved to our computer, or do they truly last only 30 days or so? Thanks. Went back and did a search and got some answers but always seem to find more to ask. :confused3 Thanks once again!

We just bought our PhotoPass CD and love it  . For $99 we got a CS with 77 original photos and 50 modified photos. The CM at the photo place in Epcot was fantastic and spent alot of time with me adding borders, character signatures and special effects to the best pictures. All of this was saved to the CD.

While you can order prints from home, you can't order the CD except in the park (MK Toontown, Epcot - near Spaceship Earth and GF)

I love the pictures, we have tons of family shots we would never have had and they are clearly professional photos.
