hello,

We have used Disney photo pass many times...this is the first time since Memory Maker came out that we have visited Disney again...

We do not have Magic Bands, just the regular credit card type tickets...can we still use Memory Maker?

I'm a little confused as to the ride photos, videos, etc....Everything I've read has said you should tap your magic band underneath the screens where your ride photos are being displayed...

DH bought memory maker last night...but now I'm afraid since we don't have Magic Bands, we won't be able to utilize the ride photos and videos...

If we can still use MM, do we just tap a Disney photo pass photo card to the tap style under the screens?

I'm hoping we didn't buy the MM for nothing :(

Thanks in advance!

Memory Maker is the new name for the product that used to be Photopass+. You can still use it with a credit-card ticket and no magic band. However, without a magic band, you will need to tap your card at the photo preview screens at the end of each photo-enabled ride (with a MB the picture would automatically appear in your account). You will be missing the photo and video from 7 Dwarfs Mine Train because it does not have any preview screens, so you can only get those photos with a MB.
I absolutely love MM! You should maximize your purchase by stopping at photographers throughout the parks and also making a point to ask them to take magic shots for you as well. I think there are a number of photo booths that are new since my 2014 trip and those photos are also included in your MM purchase.
After you're back home again, I highly recommend downloading a complete set of unedited shots, so that you have the originals, and then add stickers and borders (I especially love the ones from the rides that put a kind of "frame" around your photo with the name of the ride). If you do any character meet and greets, those photographers will also take lots of shots that are included. Lastly, if you have kids who participate in Jedi Training, Enchanted Tales with Belle or Pirates League, you'll get a card with bunches of photos from those experiences.

As long as you like at least 10+ pictures from your entire trip, you will break even or better with your MM purchase. As cheap as I am, I cringe when purchasing it, but when I'm back home and the tan has faded and the leftover Mickey rice krispy treats are gone, and I can no longer quote the welcome spiel from the bus ride, I am glad to have those pictures :)

As much as the cost of it pains me, once we got home I realized how priceless the pictures actually are! Take advantage of it and stop at all of the photographers that you can!

Thanks Mikie! That was a very helpful response to me!

So, do I tap my Disney ticket at the preview screens or would I tap a Disney Photopass card?

Sorry, I'm not sure because I used a magic band. . . I think that your plastic ticket serves both purposes, but I'm pretty sure the first photographer you stop with or a CM standing at the preview screens will be able to confirm for you. In the past, if you didn't already have a photopass card, then your first photographer would start one for you. I'm guessing that if you need one now (instead of just using your park ticket), the same thing will happen. Have fun!

Just wanted to add because we learned this last week....and did it. Disney Springs has a photo pass studio where they'll take family portrait style photos with a background grayish screen. It's all indoors with air conditioning....yay! They even have a few props. They ended up taking 35 or so pics and probably more if we would've asked but plenty for us. All included in memory maker.

was there quite a wait to get in? do you know the hours they are there?

You use the RFID in the plastic park ticket. This is the same as the "Near Field" part of the MagicBand used by photographers, room access, and FastPass+. Any photos "auto-assigned" to your account without interaction uses the "high frequency" part of the MagicBand that requires a battery.

Unless something has changed...we had the ticket and then another card for memory maker. You tap the memory maker card. They mailed us a slip when I bought memory maker and on the first day I took the slip to the camera shop on Main Street and they gave me the card. We went to Disneyland instead of Disney world last year and a lot can change in a year so if I'm wrong and it's changed hopefully someone will chime in.

Check with Disney Photopass services 407 560 4300. They can give good info on what to do without a magic band and other general info. Make sure to ask about 7 Dwarfs Mine train since it does not have a photo viewing area. I've only used it with MBs. The good thing with MBs is all who are linked to your account can use the photopass services without you being near, which was different from Photopass+. Ride photos and videos, character photos and character meal photos included.

Another thing to look for are photo booths. Photos taken in the booths are included with MM. I know there is one at the boardwalk and I think one at Disney springs maybe other places not sure. Produces the strip of three or four photos with a selected theme chosen at the booth. You can also edit on the photopass website.

Remember to check the photopass website occasionally while there to make sure your photos were acquired. My experience with the MBs, the system had more glitches acquiring photos than before. If any photos are missing call or go by photo services ASAP, they are good about finding them with info.

There was only one family in the studio before us. A photo pass photographer in Disney Springs told us about the family portrait studio or we most likely wouldn't have known. I'm guessing their hours are the same as all shops at Disney Springs but I could be wrong.

Do you recall where in Disney springs this is?
